i just get shit in bulk from ski shops, like the stuff they use on those auto waxing machines.

red for spring
blue for cold
white stuff to clean the bases

i'm also usually pretty lazy and just run it over the machine unless i actually need to wax them

for my skier cross skis i use high fluro, or whatever the techs in the shop say i should for the upcoming conditions. makes the skis scarily quick. its not unusual to pay $100 for a very small little block of the really good stuff. but i assume youre talking about normal skis, in which case a unitemp wax is pretty good. usually light blue in colour and not too expensive

I have some Italian specific temperature wax. As an over-layer I wax SWIX, there's not much difference between Toko and Swix, except Swix is more specific in the temperature range. Toko is now owned by swix. But for an average base layer, it doesn't matter too much what wax you use as long as you wax regularly.

Go with swix Base prep! great for all condisions and its fast. It is the best was for the money! if you looking to go really fast get swix BD ans swix BW or swic Cera F!! that is the fastest wax is the word but its real expensive!

OneBallJay Graphite Wax is the greatest wax ever.  Works at its best  when its warmer out, but works amazing in all temperatures!

Gulf Wax. I take a kitchen lighter & drip it onto my ski's, then rub it in. Works like a charm.
