Wheres the best powder skiing?

in the east its jay and ive been there many times its awsome but next year im going out west and i wanted to hit something good for the short time ill be there so where should i go for the best chance of a powder day? i was thinking baker, revelstoke, alta or powder if anyone knows a better place and or when the best time to go thatd be good too

Stupid thread is stupid. You can find good pow skiing anywhere, it depends entirely on the snow.

Yup doesn't matter what mountain you choose you got to get snow. Went to whistler and it rained and froze. Felt like I was skiing my home mountain.

well if you are going to CO i would go to summit county which is breck keystone or copper, i would choose breck. the best powder in my opinion is in utah, the canyons is great for powder and so is park city. its all luck reallly depends on who is going to get snow and when.

Out of all those you listed Baker usually gets the most accumulation per season and probably the most days with precip.  Though some of that precip can come as cascade cement or rain.  Also realize that Baker is out there and is not like a resort town.  Nearest place with lots of lodging is bellingham though you can find places in Glacer there aren't that many.

The NW usually gets a drought somewhere around end of jan beginning of feb which lasts a few weeks. 

To hit the goods consistently you usually want to travel before mid march.

But again like everyone else said its a crapshot and you can improve your chances by staying longer or booking late when a storm is forecast.

the sierras are getting dumped on this year due to la nina, I would suggest hitting up alpine meadows or squaw valley in lake tahoe. I know where I'm from, crystal mtn in WA, has been getting absolutely shat on in the last couple weeks, like 4-5 inches per night every night at the very least. it could just as easily get warm and rain on you the whole trip, though.

dude summit county gets the least snow in co. breck, keystone, and copper are great for park but in no means "best powder skiing." if going to colorado id check out crested butte, wolf creek, or silverton if u truly want the best powder skiing.

or if you plan/time it right tahoe and mammoth always get massive storms.

Find a place that offers cat or heli skiing if you can afford it.  Hell if you got the money go to Alaska and hop in a heli.

alaska is garbage for heli skiing. you can sit in a hotel for weeks waiting for a day thats safe for going out. go in utah or whisstler

i probably will not be cat skiing and i deffinetley wont be heli skiing im not rich haha but looking ofr a good mountain that gets hit alot with chair access

if u go to utah go to park city because thats were everything is going on and if u see a storm coming head into alta or snowbird. note that if it snows enough the highway canyon is closed so you wont be able to make it into alta or snowbird until its cleared and by then most of the good powder will be gone

Just go to Utah or Colorado. Stay away from the west coast. Mammoth and the rest of California don't have that much snow.

in my opinion i would say the canyons had the best pow ive ever skied, its not about amount its about when and where it falls, and the canyons offer some great backcountry skiing, and PC is good because it has a great park and pipe also so your not guarenteed pow when you book a vacation so PC would probably be a good choice for Utah

Both PC, Deer valley and The Canyons have been having phenominal years. Probably the most pow and most snow Ive seen/skied in PC ever.

i would say the best powder skiing would be anywhere with powder snow. hill size is a bonus too.

Terrible. Good thing NS knows that Breck is really the only good place for skiing, along with the occasional day at Keystone. Both blow Cali out of the water.

It's not THAT intense. true, some are are but there are some mellower glades around the lift and such. Basically you had better be avy trained/experienced.
