alright well i have a price range of around $300 so obviously nothing fancy but I'm looking for a lens that would be fun to use. i don't really care if it specifies in something or not I'm just looking for some ideas
yeah man its my fav lens. its 120 bucks. its sharp as fuck. fast. its an awesome lens..
and if u didnt know..the human eye sees at 50mm. so its very easy to get a feel for what a shot will look like. just make a box with your fingers a foot away from your head and u got the shot on a crop sensor
Not on a d5000... With the cropped sensor, a 50mm lens looks more like an 80mm lens. I'd check out a 35 mm f/2.8 or f/1.8 if your looking for a prime lens. Although there will be a tiny bit of wide angle distortion (very very very little. unnoticeable IMO and easily removed with Photoshop) it will be a lot more like a 50 mm on a full frame camera.
well the first one was a lil cheaper but i just want one that will make some interesting images i don't care so much about what will be closest to how my eyes work i just want something fun
My problem with the 50 mm len that i have (on a cropped sensor like the d5000) is that for me, i find that my camera is zoomed in further than I would like for an every day walk around lens. Its great for portraits and some event type shooting, but for me, its not wide enough to keep on my camera most of the time. Instead i use a 17-55 and find that a lot of my shots are around 35. For me, its more natural, so I would go for the 35. Both are great lenses but it comes down to personal preference.
other than the difference in the quality of glass, no. I assume the 18-55 is f/3.5-5.6. the 17-55 is f/2.8 and would be much sharper and give way nicer images. its also out of your price range
