So I'm on the lift today and we are talking about going out of bounds to ski some freshies and this guy next to me says that pow sucks and that it's all about park. Later in the day I'm with one of my boarder friends and I'm talking to him about it and he says that he also hates pow. How is that even possible? Thought please.
a simple solution is to "acceidently" push them off the chair.. porblem solved and 1 less idiot in the world. skiing powder is like floating in heaven. you dont feel anythign under you and taking the first turn on a steep untouched run is just epic.
I got a buddy who would rather have boilerplate snow than pow...of course he was a racer and still skis with that mentality. To each their own the more people who don't like it the more for me.
at first I thought this was going to be a rant post railing on people who hate pow, and I was going to reply by saying I didn't think anyone exists who hates pow. Then I actually read your post.
I think the two people in your story are fictitious. Have you ever hallucinated before? Nobody can possibly hate fresh snow... it just doesn't make sense
Most people that say pow sucks really don't know how to ski properly and or learned how to ski park when they first started skiing. Its really damn simple actually. Learn to actually ski before learning to ski park. At Least it keeps fewer people away for pow days.
i never liked pow that much when i had my old skis, ( ar6's and spirals) but this year i got some EP Pros, and i could care less about the park when there is more than 4 inches of fresh snow. skiin pow on ep's is like a dream.
coming from NY i never got to ski much powder snow, i considered myself a park rat to the fullest..when i graduated high school i decided to send it out west and go to University of Utah. best decision of my life....despite what most say utah lifestyle is not bogged down by mormons. regardless of that the first day i got to ski powder was a life changing event. the feeling of floating attop 3 ft of fresh or even 3 inches of fresh is something that a park rail or jump just cannot compete with in my mind. I like taking laps where everytime down i hit something new, and often with park features you are constantly hitting the same features and doing the same tricks. I also consider myself somewhat affraid of landing upsidedown on hardpack snow, powder takes all fear away from that and you can land anyway you want and can almost alwasy be fine.
skiing powder isn't fun when you don't have decently wide skis and are on a non-steep hill. i'm assuming that's what happens to those guys who hate powder
I would have to agree that park is fun, but powder is just sensational. And I may be thinking alone but I believe pow made me a better park skier. To those telling me to stop posting, get a life.
You are actually making damn good progress, PJ hahah. Ive seen someone take a season to get like 2 rail tricks down and you have a shmoregeshborg (how ever the fuck you spell it) of rail tricks from like a half of seasons of skiing.
