Favorite Post, alternative to My Threads

This thread is a great idea and would tack on nicely to something I've been thinking about for a while:


I don't know about the majority of NS, but I don't use My Threads at all. I'm not interested in saving entire threads (some in excess of 100 pages) just because one post is worth saving. Again, that's just me. There are several threads that are gems as a whole, but 99% of the time I personally pull out one post as a gem.

I think it would be awesome if along with "favoriting" pictures, movies, reviews, or blogs....we could save a single post to a "favorites" section. AKA, right under "Quote Reply" you can hit "Add Post to Favorites" or something like that and then that post would be saved and have a link to the original thread under it.

Example of how I see this helping us out: "Can't find that one awesome piece of information in that one huge thread....can't remember the name but it had the word ski in it....damn, what was it...search bar isn't pulling it up because it's too old....fuck it's gone.....OH WAIT I ADDED THAT POST TO MY FAVORITES!!! SICK NOW I CAN EDIT GO PRO FOOTY EFFECTIVELY THANKS TO IAN PROVO'S EPICLY HELPFUL POST!!!!"

Who else likes this or who hates this idea? I personally would use this daily, especially when one considers the number of single post in Media and Arts that I wish I could pull out individually.

Hmmm, didn't think about that. I thought it out so that My Threads wouldn't be changed for those that like it, but that's a great point. You could also have the same button on the thread itself so that you don't have to spam just to save the thread.

What on Earth would they be doing if they weren't working on the site? To be perfectly frank, it's pretty terrible that they take donations from people and then don't find ways to change essential site failures such as the search bar, ads that cover half the screen and yell obscenities, and media in general.

This whole "We can't do that, and you guys are ungrateful attitude is getting old." Much smaller businesses have the capabilities to make simple changes, so why can't NS fix these critical issues?

I have a Word document on my computer and eveytime I see a good thread/post I open it up and put the link to the thread along with what it is and if there's a specific post I copy and paste the post into the document.

You're not being ignored. Unfortunately before these things became issues, or while they became issues, there are/were things on the list that have to be tended to first. Paul and one other person can control and implement changes on the site. They are only two people. Grasp it. Don't be negative towards them, the people working for NS are doing the best they can. You know NS isn't like any other site on the web.

These are issues that have been well known since before I took the time to make an account years ago.  That's the concern.

but they've tried to make updates to both the searchbar and media...

i'll admit that the way the SB currently preforms is nothing short of an absolute fail. it never works the way i want it to. but i do see that it's a step in the right direction.

media too is moving ahead too IMO. NS is able to host better quality video than ever before and (at least for me) upload speeds are improving.

Yes, media is definitely improving.  I feel like the SB is just back to the fail it was before.  Whatever algorithm they are using for searches is poor.  I'd expect it from a new, low budget website....not on something hosting 150,000+ members after 10+ years of development.
