Thinking about getting the HV30 for filming mostly skiing. Trying to take filming a little bit more serious this year. What are other peoples feed back on the HV30 and how would the video quality compare to the t2i?
Well T2i has a lot more options and is 1080p unlike the hv30 which is 720p. The T2i is more expensive too. They are completely different cameras though, the T2i is for a more advanced user who knows what they are doing. The hv30 is for more of a learner/beginner cam, but is something you can easily pass to a friend to film you with.
I don't know how much you know about HDSLR's, but since you said you were just starting to take filming more seriously I would stick with the hv30. I got one myself and still use it for all my edits, but I am thinking of selling so pm if you would want to buy.
i had an hv30 for a year, then upgraded to the t2i this year. hv30 is a great camera to get started with. cheap and easy to use. i loved mine, but wanted more features. im stoked with the t2i. its great to be able to take pictures and video on one camera.
but it really depends on what you want to use it for. so you should post more info and your experience and what you are looking for
well obviously skiing but like. sometime follow cams but mostly just stand up shots from a little far away. also i do like the fact i can take pictures on the t2i but the lens and shit just seem so much more complicated than just a normal video camera.
As a beginner, I'd definitely go for the HV40... Great picture quality and you have the flexibility to either use it as a point and shoot or adjust some basic settings... Great to learn on imo.
well if you get a t2i, you will end up spending much more money than on an hv30. you can still do a lot with the hv30. i would say get it and then if its not enough for you upgrade to the t2i.
