Is the design of fulltilts/dalbellos and such worth the extra cash?

the 3 piece design of the dalbello and full tilt can be either a good or bad thing depending on your foot.

the good thing about it is that it will more evenly distribute pressure across your entire foot and the replaceable tongues make the boot more customizable.

the negative part about that boot design is that it makes it a little difficult to manipulate the shell because of the buckle.

Getting whatever fits was pretty much my plan from the start, I think since I have a badly fitted 4 buckle boot it's drilled into mind that 4 buckle boots just don't preform the way I want.

I have some dalbello axioms that i really like if that matters. the flex is awesome.

Turns out I have small feet for ski boots, cause 25 or 25.5s are hard to find. I had on some salomon impacts of some sort on, normal 4 buckle boots and they were much nicer than my current set. They actually held me feet and heels in. They were 600 dollars though, a bit more than I wished to spend. But I wouldn't be able to wear my knee brace with them anyway, since it comes so far down my leg cause I'm so damn short. Seems like I need to buy a different brace too...

Can anyone tell me what has a tighter cuff round the top between the Full Tilts and the Il Moros.

I have some rampages that fit really well but have over 200 days n them now and it seems like the top cuff round my shin dusnt fit as tight as it used to. The whole boot is like this though, I have to crank the top and middle buckles to get them to fit close enough although when I started they were on 2 or 3 notches not the full 5 or w/e it is.

Will most likely buy the Il Moros as they seem a better boot and my rampages fit so well, just i think its time they got retired.

If you don't want to buy new boots you can just buy new liners - old ones are packed so they fit loose. New ones would be tight enough to go back to 2/3 notches

Yeah I guess so but I dont want to spend $150 on boots where the soles are pretty warn out on the heel and the toe so figured might as well just buy a new boot and get those gay things that go clip on the bottom so I dont trash them in carparks anymore :(

Do they have replaceable soles. If so the new soles+liners is probably less than a new boot still.

i just recently changed from an atomic nuke 120 to a krypton pro. first i have to say, i loved my atomic, but they were pretty beat to shit, and i needed a new boot. i was extremly reluctant to buy another boot, and i really dident want to go through the whole process of bootfitting, and dropping money. i can now say, that i am imensly happy with my new krypton. the biggest difference i have made between the two is how much more responsive yet performace oriented the flex is. i find myself riding the dalbellos at 100 flex more and more often, because i feel the ski and the terrain so much more, but the boot still performs better than the atomic at speeds and when i feel like charging. i love that i can also pop in some plastic pieces and have a 140 flex with the same boot. have done this for a couple of days as well, and they ski awesome like this too.

both boots were fitted, but i belive the krypton was done by a better shop, so honestly, this can all be taken with a grain of salt. i guess this review is relativley worthless, because the first day i rode my kryptons i hated them, even with a heat fitted shell, liner, and custom footbed. it tooke 5+ trips of grinding and punching to make them awesome. so like its been said 1000 times before, bootfitting and choosing a boot that fits your foot is all that matters. if this shell fits you and you are getting them from a great bootfitter, get them instead of the two piece shell of equal quality. if the two piecer fits better, dont buy the 3 piece shell just because you think its a better design.

I'm in the exact same situation as him. what i like is the 45 degree buckle holding your heel in, there's a strap like that on my skates and it's great. plus dalbellos and full tilts felt lighter and the tongue and top of the boot felt closer to my foot. I've only tried dalbellos on in somewhat my size, i'm a 25 and I tried a 25.5 but I'm pretty sure thats the same shell size. gotta find il moros in my size to put on. or last years t halls.

It all depends on what fits your foot. 4 buckle boots are so incredibly different from one another based on last dimensions and ankle hinge placement and geometry, to lump them all together won't work. Sometime 3-buckle boots can cause more problems or be better. It just depends on what works for you.

Makes sense, I tried on a 4 buckle today and it fit nicely and held me in. Flexed right, instead of my leg just moving around. Finding the right boot in a 25 seems to be the challenge, and one that works with my knee brace is even harder to find. I'm gonna bring it next time, I forgot it today. But currently it pushes on the tongue of my boots if the brace is in the right spot.

I have those boots with the soft tongues. They are the best boot i have ever known. I give them a 9/10 because my toes get a little cold but they are epppiiccc.

Actually, I have another question. I see that 3 and 4 buckles are totally different and won't restrict myself to either. But about flex. I was reading the sticky and it says it's all about weight, height skiing style and ability, Well I'm pretty good on the mountain, not as good in the park, I like speed and am rather aggressive, but I'm 5'5'' and 120lbs so skinny and short. I asked for a stiffer boot, but I've never had a soft boot. And by stiff, I may have gotten a stiff boot, not "stiff for a skinny guy." Flex is also preference, but probably up to a certain point. It seems stupid for me to ride mega stiff boots cause they won't offer as much benefit as a softer one that seems stiff to me.

Okay, one more... Now I know when you lean forward into an aggressive stance your heals get pushed back into the rear. But at least in my current, awful, boots, during certain park maneuvers like popping onto rails, especially when I pick my tails up first like lipslides and nose butters my feet slide forward and move around. Also when I try to flex the tails of my skis. Basically whenever I have to get out of that aggressive stance to do something. Then I get heel lift. Would a boot that has a more angled cuff help. Everybody says they like one that is more straight up, but I feel like even in switch I like that forward lean. I feel like to staying in this aggressive stance all the time would be better. My boots aren't exactly high performance, so they're probably designed to keep a more upright stance for n00bs. SO the question is, do your guys properly fitting boots have your feet on lockdown or do they slide up and move during certain tricks.

I'm gonna go visit the REI in East Hanover, NJ in my continuing search to try out softer (which may seem stiff to me) and just try on more stuff. They'll probably have a decent selection at least.

As mamy people have said, get what feels good and fits. There is no "perfect boot"

I just bough some. Went to rei, tried them on and wore them for like 15 min, got them and then got them heat molded. Heat molding is amazing, they fit my heels so well. I'm gonna have such better control of my skis with these.

Look at the SPKS, they have 130 flex with the booster straps straped and 100 without which is obviously stiffer for a park boot but they flex fairly easily and another plus side is that there is never shin or toe bang!

I'm trying to get dead money's, ace of spades, il moros, rampages, full tilts... too long a list. I've been to three shops and none of them had  anything in my size. I like the three piece design better.

I'm really interested in the nordicas but i've yet to even see them in person.

my brother has the nordicas, they are so dope, ive ridden in them a couple times and i love them, in my opinion i think they are better than my last years full tilts

If Dalbellos fit, I would get those. I absolutely love mine, the flex is really nice.

i tried on some krypton crosses and they fit nice. I wanted to try the il moros and rampage, but nowhere i've been has il moros and one place didn't have even close to my size in rampages.
