Sorry all about the long post but I just bought myself a new GoPro HD hero for X-mas and its just not working out for me.
I opened the box yesterday put in an SD after reading the manual and this is what I am found with.
The camera turns on fine (hold power button until 3 beeps) and I am able to use the power button to move between modes (still picture, timed photo, filming ect). I am also able to enter the setting menu and change settings (such as between r1, r2, r3 ect).
However a problem occurs when I actually try to use the camera. Once we select a mode (picture, filming ect) and then press the shutter button to begin recording, the camera beeps once and then seems to freeze, the is no response from the RED light suggesting that it is recording and the LED screen is motionless. Once at this point the camera is completely unresponsive and no matter what buttons I press the camera remains frozen, even holding the power button for 2 seconds to turn the camera off is ineffective.
The only way to turn the camera off is to open the battery flap and remove the battery, after doing this and retrying the camera the same thing happens when we try to film or take photos.
Has this happened to anyone? does anyone know anything I should try?
I am asking here first as i'm in Australia and purchased it from the GoPro website in the US (cheaper to buy from the US) and its taking a while for them to get back to me.
p.s. I have tried the camera with 3 different Kingston 4 SD cards and still the same problem
