He is trying to hook up tv/stereo speakers to a computer that just has a regular 3.5 mm audio input jack.

you need a receiver, which is basically the tying factor in component systems. run an 1/8" to RCA from your computer to the receiver, and speaker wire out! unless the monitors are powered, in which case you could either find or splice together a +/- speaker wire to an 1/8" jack..

As you can see in the second picture, it doesnt have input/output for RCA cables

aright i have the 1/8 to RCA for the shitty stereo in my room, i need some sort of cheap receiver cause i dont really need a $200 home theater receiver thatll be bulky

you can't hook speaker wire into an interface. the interface/sound card in most cases is just an advanced version of the internal sound card on your computer that supports multiple outs, but it isn't an actual amp/pre-amp

Take a pair of headphones and cut off the earbuds. Strip the wires where they'd attach to the buds. Inside, there will be two smaller cables. Strip them, too. If there is a red and a black one, put those in their respective holes. One earbud cable for one speaker.


*I have no idea if this will work at all, but it seems like it should... somebody tell this kid if doing that will break something before he tries it.

So all the Stereo receivers im finding are the full sized home theater kind, aka 20x larger then my computer,

DOES ANYONE know if they make smaller receivers??

look on ebay haha, it doesnt really matter, they all have aux in

i personally have a spare one from the 60's, it sounds pretty good, its maybe 18" wide and 5" tall, 10" deep about

its not THAT loud, but its probably loud enough

Aight so i ended up just using my old ass stereo i kinda hate it but it gets the job done, i put it under my desk so its not a nuisance.
