Armada ar7 vs. Armada el rey

hey NS. I have a ski decision problem. I'm thinking about picking up a pair of either armada ar7's or armada el rey's, for this season. being 5'9 ish, and about 130 pounds, the 166cm(164) seems perfect. (i'm skiing on a 155 now).
I ski a mountain with no park and bad conditions (but is ten minutes away) all week... so I need a ski that can handle ice and groomers and all mountain well.
also, every weekend, or whenever I get a chance. I ski my backyard setup which contains many rails and jibs, or the monthly resort trip-> park, so i need a good ski for rails.
(Big air isn't as important to me because I only hit big jumps a couple times every season. [when i make it to a nice mountain)
the bottom line. I've narrowed it down to these two skis, and i'm wondering how much better the ar7 is for the money, and will it fit my needs. reviews or opinions would be nice.
(line chronic crytonite? line afterbang? line blends? line step ups?atomic punx? armada triumph? K2 domain? rossignol s4 jib?) skier type: 3+
please help. this is supposed to be for christmas haha...

my third choice would be the line chronic crytonites, but I've heard they're unresponsive on rails and to stiff for buttering. good for all mountain, but I want something playful also.

check the searchbar (top right) (but it only searches for exact strings, in titles. what works better is going to google and entering site:newschoolers.com + the words youre looking for). i say this because i am just getting to the end of making almost this exact same decision (i think i'm going for the CC's. i want a stiffer ski to charge on and i havent heard much negative about it. i'm not sure what you mean by unresponsive on rails?) and there are definitely some threads on this around

k2's new rocker is dope..domain would be fun anywhere..If i was in your postion where i barely had a park to ski i would want a super fun playful ski to fuck around with on the groomers but still hold up and then when i had a chance to go to a big resort te ski would preform as well....

thats what im thinkin.. my home mountain sucks and ive just been making the best out of whats there.. bumps and drops and shit. and now that im popping my bindings, and flexing my skis in half. im thinking i want my new ones to be stiff enough for just riding around, but fun enough for buttering and rails. therefore armada el rey and ar7 and line chronic cryptos.. have you skied k2? cause i dont have any experience with them and none of my friends have k2... i just dont want a wash out for plain skiing, otherwise id get a true park ski

thanks man, ive realized the search is a little weird... the only reason im on this site is cause im trying to get real opinion and not the brands market hype. but what i mean about un responsive is that I like to feel the rail under me when im sliding it, and im worried that if the skis to stiff -> (better for all mountain) the it'l be like jibbing with crowbars. im trying to figure out which ones the best possible inbetween.. cause theres not one perfect ski for both. the chronics still a sick ski and I like all of them

yeah exactly, there are some threads around that are purely member responses. well the line guy responded a couple times but he wasn't too pushy or anything
i agree it's a hard pick, i'm still on the fence a bit. hard to find a ski that truly rips the mtn but is still sick as can be in the park. the el rey sounds perfect but i'm not sure how i feel about the "price point" ski thing.. don't want to be getting a cheap ski that isnt as lively and badass as it could be
not sure about what you said about the CCs on rails.. but i think some of the line riders use them in the park/on rails all the time don't they?

that's literally exactly how I feel about the el rey's. and yeah at least in the cc promotional video on the site they did. but i think its usually a team shoot where they all use every ski so its not like that's there ski of choice...i'm not really sure though cause mike hornbeck uses the el reys by choice..
I just know from experience that a softer ski feels better on rails, and a stiffer ski feels sturdier on bigger jumps. these pros can afford a powder ski, a park ski, and an allmountain ski, but being me i want something good for everything... thats whats tough

dude if you want an all mountain ski that still KILLS the park, get the chronic cryptonites! 92 in the waist, and they have sidewalls unlike the el rey. word on the street is that they destroy everything but deep powder.

I'm getting the ar7's too.. Do you guys know how durable they are? Like can I hammer them with rails for a whole season and still be able to ski with them?
All times are Eastern (-4)
