It depends on your weight, flex preference, and what your using them for. You don't want the world cup booster on a pair of 3 flex FT boots. I have the "PRO" flex, and I weigh 160ish, and prefer a soft plug boot (like a 115-120 flex). If you weigh between 140 and 180, and your boots are at least a 90 flex, that's probably what you should get (the second stiffest).
Booster straps do not prevent shin bang caused by landing backseat.
If you are having trouble landing forward, Try keeping your arms forward on straight airs, then if you are doing 360s, throw them forward as you come around. It will prevent your upper body from pulling you back as you land. And if you are still having trouble, it is probably an issue with your take off. Your weight should be forward when you take off, because the landing is always steeper than the takeoff, so your weight will need to shift forward if you are going to land balanced.
Then as you gain better air awareness, you will probably land balanced naturally.
Yeah, its more about the shoulders, but moving your arms forward helps that happen. but also make sure your shoulders are already forward when you leave the ground.
if i cant get my tongue to be touching my shin or close to it by using my normal strap and buckles, will the booster strap? i dont see how it could some how tighten stronger than my strap right now and buckles
The booster goes under your shell, and just wraps around the liner, so yeah, it would. But it sounds like you need to put some extra foam in your boots.
cant i just put my normal strap there instead of around the shell and save 40 bucks? i did cut a mouse pad in half fold it over and put it in between the back of my shell and inner liner, that helped but it still isnt perfect
Sorry for the threadjack, but I'm really looking into a pair. I've got this year's Hotdogger's (the Tamstick Waddlewam pro's) with a #2 flex tounge and I weigh about 115 or so. I was debating between getting the standard or the youth, since I like a flexy boot I'm not the biggest kid. Any ideas?
They will help a bit, but I think that the main problem that causes shin bang, at least for me, is landing backseat. Boosters don't really help with this.
Alright, I just want to eliminate my shinbang, not that I have much at all, but just as an extra precaution, because once you have it it doesn't go away for a while, and it blows. I do a lot of butters and jibs and presses and such, so I think I'll get the standard since I really want to avoid shinbang at all costs. Thanks for the help!
its like the same problem. you didnt jack my thread. but ya, is putting them on a hassle cause dont u have to find where you want them and then screw holes or something?
My final request. I still dont see how it is gonna be any tighter than my strap. Could someone make a video of them tightening their boots using the strap on their shins? Because i dont wanna waste 40 bucks and find out they arent gonna help me. Also i did a mousepad contraption in between my shell and liiner, is there anything else i can do like that which would help me with the gap between my shins and liner
You land backseat, you will get shinbang. There is no preventing this, except not landing backseat. No amount of office supplies in your boots will defeat it.
landing backseat is not the only problem here, and yeah it does help because before i did that i would get bruises it was so bad. after i put them in there is nothing but pain. Now all i need to do is completely eliminate the gap between my shin and liner
IS THERE ANY WAY OF TELLING THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN WORLD CUP, MEDIUM, AND SOFT BOOSTER STRAPS? lol sorry for bold and caps i need it answered. I have one at home on my old boots but i am not sure what type it is. Any help gets +k
The more bands there are the less the strap will flex. A booster with less straps will help shin bang more, (as long as its not to flexy of course.) The world cup strap will feel pretty much like a normal power strap unless you ski very hard or are pretty heavy.
I have them on my Agent's. I had to cut out the stock strap. It was a bitch, and I still have some remnants at the rivets that I was too lazy to put a lot of effort into digging out.
I used 2 t-nuts from my old Nordicas to attach the booster at the back of the boot. It takes a little work, but it can be done.
Oh, and sorry for the double post, but just to clarify, I'm 5'4" and 115 lbs, hence the reason I don't know which one to pick, since it says I should get the kids one for my weight range, but I'm afraid it'll be too flimsy...
But I am a real skier... My home mountain doesn't have a park, so I brave the summers cutting trails and stashing pvc and little jibs on the mountain's backside so I can get them in the winter... And the only cliff I can hit is a 10-foot tall boulder out of bounds to a smaller hill and 2" of hardpack mixed with rock and leaves that should have been decomposed 10 years ago... Gotta make do with what you've got I suppose...
