Entire setup stolen, new setup help wanted

Okay so pretty much my entire setup, besides my glide cam, rode mic, lcdvf and tripod were stolen while i was in copenhagen last week.
I had:

Canon t2i
Canon 16-35mm 2.8L
Canon 50mm 1.4
Canon 70-200 2.8
Peleng 8mm Fisheye

So im trying to figure out what im going to get to replace it, keeping in mind i just lost $4000+ of gear.

i want to stay canon, so as far as bodies its the:
7D
60D
T2i

i do shot photos as well as vid so the 7d is obviously the best in that area. i would like to step away from the rebel series, as that is all that i have ever owned, so t2i is lowest on the the list. The only reason to get the 60d over the 7d (besides price) is it has manual control over AGC and as these is no magic lantern for the 7d (at the moment) that is a pretty big advantage in the video area.

As far as lens, i was thinking the 24-70 f2.8 or 24-205 f4 IS is probably the best "everyday" photography lens but i would still like some primes for video and i need something wider to do follows with (preferably not a fish)
i know there are some older nikon and pentax primes that are good quality but i haven't seen anything that wide (lower than 20mm)
i
m probably trying to stay under 3000.

so yeah any input would be greatly appreciated, as much as it sucks to get all this stuff stolen, it does give me a chance to improve my setup (which i think was not fully balanced previously)

god damn, you got such a nice setup stolen! What happened? How'd it get stolen?

As far as lens goes, definately the two you mentioned are perfect for what you want to do. You could go a little intense and get two lens, a 50mm f/1.4 and a 35mm f/1.8 for a close price but the focal lengths dont match what you need.

tokina 11-16 or 12-24 are pretty popular for wide angle, but thats just what ive heard, i don't have a dslr (yet)

I'd go for the the 12-24 (I assume Cannon has one, if not go 10-20 or whatever that lens is (im a Nikon guy)) and 24-70 unless you feel that you will benefit from a 70-200 more. In that case, I'd go 24-70 and 70-200 (f/4 or f/2.8 depending on your needs). I'd definitely stick with the 7d too. Ive used one and have a friend who uses it as his main camera and loves it. I like that has good high iso performance, but if this isnt an issue, than maybe check out a different camera if it fits your needs better.

If you are doing photos, get the 7d. AGC doesnt matter because if you are serious, you are going to want to record sound separately. I suggest this external recorder: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/600761-REG/Zoom_H4N_H4n_Handy_Mobile_4_Track.html

Then I would get a:
Canon 70-200 f4 IS
Fast 50 (maybe an old Helios off ebay?)
Tokina 11-16
Canon 24-105 f4 IS
and maybe another old prime?

Sounds pretty solid to me but might be a bit past your budget. In that case, ditch the 70-200 or dont get the IS, or buy used.

thanks for the replys guys. at the moment im thinking of going for the 60d cause as much as i want the 7d its hard to justify the $500 price difference especially when im going to be more focused on video. i just priced out a 60d, tokin 12-24, canon 24-105 which comes out to 2,557 plus 200 more for filter, mem cards and such gives me a little extra money to invest in a prime.

thoughts?

buy your lenses/bodies used to save some cash (fred miranda/photography-on-the.net)
I'd say:

60d
Nikon 16 2.8 prime
24-105 4L USM
50 1.4
then pick up a 70-200 2.8 once you get the cash.

+vibes for getting your shit stolen, that really sucks. You have insurance?

Bumping this thread, cause I'm about to get around $4,500 from my insurance, so I now need to decide what to buy. So if you had 4.5k to spend on a 70% video 30% photo setup what would you get?

= 4400 roughly. thats what i would do. you could save money and buy a cheaper 50mm and buy a tamron 17-50mm 2.8 instead, etc.

the 16 2.8 is pricey, and not fisheye on a crop sensor, and probably wouldn't work all that well on a Canon.

If you want another fisheye, get the Rokinon / Pro Optic fisheye, it's less than 300, although it's manual focus (never really a problem with a fisheye) and f3.5.

Then save up for a better fisheye when you need it.

For a rectilinear wideangle, look at the Tokina. I don't know of any that are going to be cheaper and work nearly as well, and it's pretty fast.

I would get a wide lens, a mid-range zoom and the 80-200 f4 in your situation, most likely.

gotta figure out the rest

i got super lucky with insurance. when i got insurance on my car this summer it was only a little bit more to put renters insurance on the policy as well so i did it. When i got everything stolen i thought there was no way they would cover it cause i was out of the country but i emailed my agent and she said no problem just file a claim. so long story short state farm IS there!
