Help convince my parents to let me have a 18th bday party WITH alcohol

so my parents are almost letting me have a party at my house for my birthday. i turn 18 january 2 btw. i gave them a number of 20-25 kids.

they are kinda scared to do it cuz they dont wanna get arrested.

i told them that we put up signs that say "no drinking unless over 21" so they cant sue. drivers either sleep over ordont drink.

does NS have any ideas to convince my parents

youll be fine.. i mean unless wherever you live is a lot different than ohio.. ive been to plenty of parties where there is obvious underage drinking and the cops came and didnt do anything except tell us to keep the noise down. Im not sure where all these horror stories about the cops are coming from but i know in ohio they dont "surround the house" for a simple underage consumption

so this is what you do.
Make sure everyone parks all down your street, spread out too (so it doesn't look like they're at your house).
everyone who comes and drinks, stays in the the basement till the next morning. You come to party, you stay the night, that easy. (+points if you have a bathroom down their that people can use). Now give your rents a couple of DVDS and let them sit in the living room and chill.

cops come?
well thankfully if you're in the basement they wont see you or any alcohol, they wont smell it either and if you're friends aren't shitheads they also wont hear you. This is why its nice too have your rents, they get to confront the officers and you dont need to deal with them.
If the cops come the only reason i could imagine it being for would be a disturbance of the peace/Noise complaint. and too this your rents just say "oh my son has a few friends over, ill ask him to keep it down" yada yada yada

I feel as though if you have to CONVINCE your parents to LET you have a party involving alcohol... then it's going to fucking suck even if they finally agree. they'll be all stressed out... they'll keep saying "turn the music down... that kid has had too much to drink... your friends are not allowed in ____ part of the house... etc etc etc.


trust me, find something else to do or celebrate it at a different location.
my parents know i drink and shit, but they would NEVER be down for a party thrown at mi casa.. NEVER. all it takes it one drunk kid to sneak off and drive somewhere. what if that kid ends up getting into a car accident and killing someone? guess who is liable? YOUR PARENTS.

i know shit like that is rare, but it does happen. and it's not worth the risk. they could lose everything and i'm pretty sure you don't want that to happen just for a very stressful night of drinking. plus i would never wanna get hammed in front of my parents because they aren't exactly that "type" even though they're down with me doing so elsewhere. just not a fun idea.

Yea, what a crazy place, where people are held responsible for their actions in a court of law.

They are adults in charge of the well being of children, you don't think they should be held liable for knowingly and purposefully engaging in illicit activitys with minors?

And don't be so swift to pass judgment, in NZ they just started a new liquor law reform. There's a $2000 fine for providing alcohol to a minor without parental consent. You have to be 20 to buy liquor at a store. Not really that different, except for the footprints on the moon, kiwi...

with the way litigation works in the states its probably not worth your trouble. you'd be spending the whole night checking on everything and not enjoying yourself enough. if you want to drink at the age of 18 come to australia. even people who aren't 18 here can still drink if its on private property, they just cant buy the grog themselves. their parents have to buy it for them.

just make your party interesting in other ways. themes are good. i dont mean fairys and kids shit. i mean a proper one like 'uniforms' or back to school or 'whatever letter your name starts with'. ie if your name is nick have an N party where everyone has to dress up as something starting with N. extra points for skanky clothing and skin showing.

and if all else fails there's nothing to stop you playing kings with non alcoholic drinks. you'll have a heap of fun making up rules and enforcing consumptions but you just wont be breaking the law

Also I would do some crazy shit the night or to before your 18th because then your not legal yet if you get caught. Just a word of the wise but yea with that many people depending on your house there is probably no way it will be to loud unless someone gets belligerently drunk so watch for that.  Should be no worries at all good luck man

For my 18th this year a bunch of friends (maybe about 10-15) came up to my house in the mts. We were in my basement and had a buncha booze with my parents upstairs. They had no idea what was going on at the time. Everyone made sure they weren't going too overboard and were concious that my parents were upstairs which was good. My parents had an idea this was going on but didn't really care because we were being safe, no one was driving, and we all knew our limits. So basically, if everyone can behave at your party and not get too out of control most likely cops won't be showing up at your door. Just be responisble

yeah you now have to be 20 to buy booze (in liquor stores), but you still only need to be 18 to buy booze from bars etc and to drink in general. Also, this new law has had absolutely no effect, and you know why? because our country isnt filled with retarded cops trying to put kids/people away for retarded reasons. you will always be a bunch of testosterone filled rednecks, and you trying to justify yourself/america and/or bring other countries down to your level only makes you look more stupid.

No please stop. Supplying liquor to minors is a pretty common occurance and I have never once heard of anyone being even approached about it. Unless you are rediculously stupid about it no one will know or care.

Secondly, the drinking age is still 18 in New Zealand, everywhere. Bars, liqour stores or clubs. I know this for a fact. They are still considering raising the age to 20 when buying at a liqour store which MAY come into effect after the 2011 Rugby World Cup.
