Line bases and construction

Alright so i think ive probably decided to go with some chronic chryptonites (2011) for my purposes of all mtn charging and hauling ass + trees + pow when it happens + park/rails (still very important)

i have to be honest though, i'm wondering if this ski will be as high quality as the ar7s i was thinking about getting. ive heard things about slow line bases, will this be the case on the chronic chryptonite? this is a big question for me, if the bases/construction are very legit i'll walk out to buy these right now

PS, if i get them, how is the recommended mounting spot? would it be wise to bump them up a couple inches for park/rails or is there plenty of tail on them already?

I'm not totally sure, but I think Chronics have a sintered base. Just the Afterbangs/Masterminds have the slow extruded base.

My chronics, which are older than my brother's disorderlys, have less marks and cuts into the bases. So I'd say the chronics have durable bases. And they're definitely not slow, could be faster but mine need wax. I think most of NS would agree that chronics tend to be durable.

i think they are the older school ptex type bases. hold wax for longer and are faster. my anthems were slow all the time last year because they didnt hold their wax well at all. probably has something to do with the many days of shitty/chopped ice we got in wa. ive heard nothing bad about the chronic series. a little bit stiffer but just fine

we use sintered (faster than extruded) bases in the Chronics as well as fatty base (thicker for more abuse). Not sure what the other guys are using but on skis in and around the same price range as the CC sintered is usually what they use. Thanks for checking out the Chronic, have a great winter!

my brothers chronics from 08/09? idk, the orange ones. the top sheets are pretty beat. but the bases are still super solid.

Those are the ones I still have, they're 07-08 I think. But my bases are solid as well.

any recommendations on mounting spot? i'm used to charging with centermounted line park noodles from 2000 so i am used to having a lot of tail and enjoy it, but want to be able to stay afloat in new snow too... would +1 or +2 from recommended be a good idea?

The recommended mount is about 6 back which is great for all terrain freestyle but if you want the more centered feel (which most of our riders do) about 2 cm back from center is all good. Thanks!

so would +2 from recommended be okay? i just want a bit more tail but not too much, i still want them to perform in soft snow. if i had more than one pair of skis and i was just gonna use these for park id true center mount them but i need a one ski quiver.. but i'm not quite willing to give up allll that tail..


and twin tip kid, yeah i know.. but no one ever responds to threads in gear talk etc. figured i'd just let it go and if it gets moved no big deal

I'm about +3 from recommended or something. I honestly don't remember where they're mounted exactly, but I'm somewhere between recommended and -2 from center and they're fine.

Yeah, and I probably ski the rest of the hill more than the park. And recently I've been dong the easier slopes switch and they're fine.
