Where to mount gopro

Super stoke i got 1 fro christmas but im curious as where the best place is to mount it on the helmet. if you ahve pics of where it is on the helmet and vidoe it takes that would be so helpful. thanks and +K

ya i just got one too! stoked, mounted one of the stickys in the middle of my fullface slightly forward. planning on using the other for my sled!

one question, i didn't get memory stick, can i still use it for a couple shots when i go out tomorrow or is it just worthless with out the stick?

lol learn to film noob. im definitely going to use helmet for pow because otherwise most of the shots will end up being snow and stuff. Also getting chest mount on over b-dog jacket is not easy. I like the chest for park because you see more of the movement of the limbs and see more of the feature.

I disagree. The chest mount for pow you get a true POV down the hill, not just a camera faced at the skis. The helmet also works great for pow too. I think the helmet with it faced down so you can see the whole body is the best for park. But i mean, i don't know what im talking about at all, so dont listen to me.

How well does that mount hold stuck partially over another sticker? I will be pulling off my NS or FD sticker in order to get the mount stuck directly to the helmet because I want to be absolutely sure I don't lose the camera on a pow day.

i wouldnt tke any chances... my mount fell off like 2 days ago after being on for months and i wasnt even skiing. i was standing at the top of the hill and just tapped my helmet to get the snow off of it and it just fell off. i got lucky it wasnt while i was actually skiing

Alright so the I was in a rush this morning and the I put a curved adhesive mount on and the corners are sticking up slightly... Do I take it off and put a new one on? Or just leave it

listen to heatherz he knows what he's talking aboot. But i mean, it's all personal pref, but generally pow shots from the chest work nicely, and park shots from the helmet also work nicely. I guess if you aren't really throwing anything in the park it'd work, but if you get your knees up at all you'll block the shot. Also chest shots from the park are disorienting in my opinion!

i also got one, and quite frankly their mounting systems are bulky. wtf is up with it sitting so high on a helmet, and that god awful side mounting bracket. back to the design table boys.
if it could mount to the back of the water proof case would be way better, or another optional housing for side mount shots where the bracket would fasten to the side of the camera. two simple solutions right thur

So much noob in this thread.


1) Eheath knows what he is talking about, I suggest you listen to him.
2) If you crash in the park with the chest strap on, ouch.
3) The mounting system is great, I don't know what you are talking about with it being bulky. It doesn't sit up high on your helmet if you put the mount in the correct place.
4) Having the mount over a sticker won't make a difference, I have mine over a sticker, I landed on my gopro last year and the mount did not break off, the plastic actually snapped. You just need to know how to mount it (clean the surface of the helmet).
5) The edges of the curved mount are sticking up on mine too, I pressed it down for the longest time to try and form the foam sticky part to the helmet, worked a little bit, but it has never fallen off.

regardless, it would still sit lower if it was mounted to the rear door, really, all it would take would be an add on with a new rear door and a slightly different mount to stick to the pads. extra 25$ for them, a price id be willing to pay for a more streamline mount

yeah, I have the chest mount and I am now using the chest mount clip (in the pic above) on my helmet as well. I feel it gives me more room for adjusting the angle I'm filming from while on my helmet.

the chest mount really is kick ass though (unless you're in wet, sticky pow... If it's hero snow, you'd be surprised as to how well it films).

Same thing with mine. The plastic part that attaches the camera to the mount snapped . If you hit your head hard enough to break off a mount, you won't worrying much about your camera....
