Light blue sidewalls on line stepups

If you look closely some of the time when you see lj or tyler barnes doing a trick on the stepups, it looks like there is a light blue sidewall, the same color as the chronic cryptonites bases, but whenever theres a close up, it is the same old skate deck construction. you can see it at 02:52 of the season 3 episode 2 traveling circus video when lj is walking out the door. anyone know whats up?

oh yeah they probably wanted LJ on the stepups but he liked the chronics better huh. just like dumont for the past 2 years

I just notice weird things and am curious about them. If you're never curious about anything, then you'll never learn anything, so no I dont have too much time on my hands

But the base is also from step ups so maybe the sidewalls are just painted. I noticed the same thing while watching TC.

but they would change the base too. thats what salomon did with dumont for the past 2 years: put the new graphic on his old cap ski. and also, why would LJ and tyler barnes both paint their sides the exact same color?

i bet most pros ski on prototypes with current season graphics. how do you think companies figure out new designs and modifications?

i bet pollard has put 5 days on the ep pros that are available to the public. that guy crushes protos

welcome to the wide world of deckwall.

next years step-ups are sex. standard line maple macro core and abs sidewalls sandwiched two skate deck veneers all slapped onto a race base, with a little carbon thrown in for good measure.

next years stepups are a combination of sidewall and skate deck contruction; skate deck twards the tips side wall under the foot.

wrong answer.

113-86-113 symmetric sidecut and flex. sidewall goes from time to tail, instead of having a topsheet you get a veneer, and you get a veneer above the base. standard maple core and sidewall are sandwiched above and below. flex is similiar to this years, maybe a hair stiffer (older chronic flex)
