I'm deciding between these two boots. I know that the Spk Pro is obviously the better boot but is it really that much better than the Kreation? +K for help.
Your friend gets shin bang from SPK's most likely b/c he has to thin legs for the spk fit, or he is in to big a size. It has nothing to do with the two buckle design.
i had the spk pro and after hiking rails for parts of the season the leather started to rip and tear off. since your ski would hit the leather when you pop the binding out. but get whatever fits.
I'm trying to decide between this years Kreations, or Spk Pro's from a couple years back, the ones with brown leather. (Not sure what year.) Does anyone know what year that boot was and whether or not they have the shock absorbing stuff on the tongue like more recent years?
if you NEEED to go salomon, get the kaos, its the best of both worlds: soft toe, flex in between kreation and spk, and they still have lots of padding and they're not heavy and they dont have all that ugly leather
yeah same problem with shin bang on the kreations. Hit a kicker like 3 times and I could harldey walk (i was landing pretty backseat) but still un impressed with how easily i got shin bang. On the not of two buckles creating shinbang: that has nothing to do with shinbang at all. Never riden the pro's but if you can snag a deal thats what i would go with to.
The spk Pro you are looking at does not have the rubber toe box. That did not come in untill last year. Its the 07/08 your looking at. Its a good boot but it does fit slightly tighter then the Kreation or the koas due to the leather. Its mainly tighter in the instep but you can cut a section of leather if needed. I would not bother with the kreation, its the cheap one, get the koas at the very least. If I was you though and you know any one in the industry wait a few weeks and get one of next years SPK Pro's. Gone is the leather and it is now stiffer at 120 so it becomes a good all mountain boot as well as park boot.
I have the SPK PRO's and love them because
1. I have never had shin/toe bang in them and jump Freeway @ Breck.
2. They are stiff enough to take out of the park into the trees/ big mountain.
The leather isn't what makes them more stiff though, dude's retarded^. The leather is simply slapped on over the plastic.
The Kreation's aren't as stiff and also don't have as good of "bang" protection. The leather is a negative of the pro, because yes it rips easy, but as of next year they will no longer be made with leather.
Bottom line:
If you're a park rat that doesn't have an issue with shin/toe bang, get the Kreation's.
If you like to go huge or take your riding to big mountain, get the Pros.
They pack out A LOT so make sure to get a size smaller than your usual size. (That's why people start to get shin bang with the SPK'S.)
This is my 2nd season on them and I'm really starting to notice them packing out a lot... Finding myself having to buckle 1 to 2 buckles tighter. I ride a lot and got them half way through last season so they have a good 110 days on them.
Now that I think about it, I can't say I'd want a size smaller in the pros and I bought my shoe size (I'm a female though so I have bigger calves than you males.) I've heard you should size down with the Kaos and Kreation's though... I think they have the tenancy to pack out more than the pros.
kreations are rather basic. been riding them for like 3 seasons. meh they are ok. wish they were stiffer and fit better. decent boot tho never had any real issues with them
i don't understand how you guys get shinbang from these boots. tighten the drawstring, and tighten the powerstrap. it should fit tight on your leg unless you have serious chicken legs
Sorry for the dub post but I was riding really hard from like first chair to last chair and I was in the park all day trying new tricks, so I really worked them, But I still Love them
