Memory card problems

I've been transferring things between computers with sd cards and flash drives but when i delete things off of them it doesn't re gain any of the memory. the files are mostly mp3s and jpegs. What do I do to get the memory back?

do you have a mac? if so you need to empty the trash, otherwise everything is still there, just "hidden"
