A Few Gopro Questions +k

ok so my number one question is if the 32 gig card will be more than enough for me. how bit are the files usually? will i be set for a day with all that?

number two is where is the best place to put the helmet mount

and last, i always see people with the pole mounts. are those hommade? or is it something like the rollbar mount from gopro?

Well the stats for recording time for a 32gb are on the site, but i'll post them here.
1080p (30 fps): 4h 21m 960p (30 fps): 5h 26m 720p (60 fps): 4h 21 720p (30 fps): 8h 09m WVGA (60 fps): 8h 09m.

With 32gb you will be just fine, your battery usually is done in 2 hours so you won't be able to fill it up much more then that.

For pole mounts, I don't know of any other ones then homemade ones. Mine is a ski pole with a flat adhesive mount epoxied to grip.

when i made my pole mount, i just stuck a curved sticky mount on the top of my ski pole handle. worked perfectly, but won't work for all poles obviously

32 gb is plenty

i use an 8 gb and ive never filled it up in one day

for the helmet mount, it can be kinda tricky. dont put it in the middle of your helmet, but dont put it close to the front. i would say right in between the middle and front, depending on how you want your shots to look. i like to be able to see the skis at all time, but also be able to see where the person is going. you'll figure it out.

and pole mounts are all different. you can even use the headstrap for a pole mount. there is a hole in the plastic piece by the go pro, that you can stick the end of your pole through. if you put it on there just right, it can stay and works really well. or get a handlebar mount and use it. if none of those work, i have a couple other ways. just let me know.

i use a 4gb and i never fill it up.. just don't leave it running forever and you're set. the polemount works great being pointed at friends AND being pointed at you. for the helmet mount id mount it middle pretty close to the front of the helmet, so that if you point it down a bit the helmet doesn't get in the shot. evidence of how well the polemount works:

32 gb i think is dumb. i just got a 8gb and when im done uploading after the day i just delete everything on the card because its already on my computor. My helmet ount is about 1 inch and a half from the bottom of the helmet right on the front. about the pole, get the tripod mount for 8 bucks and buy a mono pod at target for 15 bucks and it works great.

i used the curved adhesive mount, took one fall and it came off sending the gopro flying!

should i have let the adhesive cure or anything like that?

on the front of my helmet, i liked the angle but it came off easyish? i guess dont know exactly how it came off other then the fact the i fell

^ make sure your helmet isnt cold or anything. it should all be at room temperature. and let it sit for at least 24 hours before taking it outside.

not dumb. what if hes on a weekend trip. he goes skiing all day. then he goes and skis the next day and the next day. he gets home to his computer with well over 8 GB. you on the other hand..will be conshyenshous about how much you shoot. he can shoot away with no worries and have tons of material to work with.

I homemade a gopro mount. did this by...

Cutting a library card (who needs the library anyway) in half lengthwise to make it super skinny. then, i used a flatmount onto the card. Finally, superglue to card lengthwise to the end of a trekking or ski pole. And remember, ductape is your friend, as it provides all your structural integrity. You just gotta get silly with it... and voila, you now either have a snowboard pole cam or a follow-cam pole mount..

film in 960. it gives you a lot more vision on the top and bottom. works great

but just play with it because the angles can change depending on where the camera is mounted on your helmet

Yeah I've already had 3 adhesive mounts fall off.  Now I'm just going to super glue them or use the strap.

i looking to get the chest mount because i am sick of all the mounts falling off.

btw did you let the glue cure, because i didnt on one of them and i seemed to rip of really easy..kinda fail on my part

don't put the helmet mount on top... then you cant really see you in it. If you mount it on the front you can still get the angle like you would on top but you can also have it look down at you or get your skis in the picture.

but you gotta have the helmet mount piece.
