Pow ski choice

i know there have been alot of ski threads out there but i need some information...there is obviously a big difference between a ski like the chopstick and the bentchetler...

but i am looking for a fat pow ski for those really deep days as well as some steep charging and big cliffs...

so will the chopsticks perform or are the chetlers a more stable but playful ski?

I have ridden both. Honestly, you could not go wrong with either. I skied my dad's Chopsticks for one day, and I must say, they are much more playful and quick to turn than I would have thought. As far as charging goes, I think the Bent's would be a better option, but for pow, the Chopsticks. I guess it depends on which trait is more important in the ski.

I kinda think its the other way around. The chopsticks are symmetrical, with no early taper, so in pow pow you are fighting the tail float, and your tips are more prone to catching. They are however, stiff as balls, so when it comes to charging, they are kind. The Bents on the otherhand, seemed more playful to me, and much less prone to catching in the mash potatoes and chop. AND they have too little effective sidecut, so I did not feel that the charging stability was quite there....

But yeah, I have skied both, owned the Chopsticks last season. Love both of them, but I am a rocker whore.

you could look into the armada jjs. they're supposed to float like crazy, chargable while still playful, and not the widest+camber underfoot for stability back to the lift

i used to have the jj's but they got too small...

i really liked them but felt like i needed more floatation in that japanese pow! ha

I have also heard the chetlers are like jj's on steroids and that they are basically just jj's but better in everything..
only thing i am wondering is would the chopsticks be more fun?
i would be getting 192 chetlers..

id go for the bent chetlers, as i like softer skis, and they still have camber underfoot

ARG or the Donner parties



best skies out there for deep pow, and they are both very stiff for charging as well. JP Auclair uses the ARG in AK so that should give you some idea of their chargeability...
