the gear is really expensive, a couple G's at least. it is sick, my friend here in Scotland does it in St andrews, and is nasty at it - they need to start jibbing on the boards though, that would really make the sport

i wanna get into this sport to, but its so expencive. It looks really sick, i saw a compitition for it and i was very impressed.

I'm talking about a place where the beer flows like wine, a place where beautiful women instinctively flock like the salmon of Capistrano . . . I'm talking about a place called ASSSSPEN. I don't know Lloyd, the french are assholes.

I have been doing it for a couple of years on snow. I prefer windsurfing on water so i stick to that in the summer months. However, if you want to get into it for the summer, look for local clubs and try to get some used gear. Better to break the cheaper used stuff. I learned by the use of a trainer kite for the basic stuff. I also recommend getting a lesson so you are not injuring others on the lake/ocean.

Contrasting windsurfing where the energy is transfered throught the mast into the board, kitesurfing uses your knees and ankles as the only way to transfer energy. With this said, your knees really take a beating and i have seen a lot of people messing themselves up.

I love kiteskiing, it is the next best thing to the ski resort. Plus you can build all sorts of kick ass jumps and rails on your local lake and go nuts. For winter kiting you only need a foil type kite and those are dramatically cheaper. However, these are not for water use since they do not inflate and will fill with water if you should drop your kite.

haha i live in Hood River...well if you get used stuff i think you can get a pretty good deal, like kite and board for less than 1G or around 1G. yeah its a pretty $$$ sport, it would be best if you could get someone to hook you up.
