Time lapse

Ok this is a really stupid question but in timelapses how do you make the camera moving as the timelapse is going on?

like if someones filming a time lapse of clouds going by and the cameras moving to the side like its on a dolly.

never done it but if I were do it, I would use my fisheye or any wide lens and then pan using an editing program. I'm sure there are many ways of doing it though

1. Use an intervalometer to take a sequence of still photos.
2. Import still photos into image sequence using Quicktime Pro.
3. Export at full resolution as video file.
4. Keyframe the movement in an NLE.

Using stills is crucial because they are much higher resolution than HD video (which is only about 2 megapixels). Since the stills are ~8 times the size of your HD video, you can zoom in and animate movement without losing any image quality (up to a certain point of magnification, technically speaking).

this is it. the only other way I can think of is using a kessler Cine slider with Oracle attachment. Well that's the only somewhat inexpensive way of doing it... and that's still costing a lot.

threads, also could anyone direct me to a thread that talks about adding depth of field into images. i want to imitate a certain time-lapse/stop-motion movie i saw, and that would be that last step

most of the time it is done with key framing if the filmer has no means of aquiring an expensive system in order to capture such a shot, but here for above post. http://www.videocopilot.net/tutorials/virtual_3d_photos/
