I'm currently in a pair of SPKs, which fit terribly. The one thing they have going for them is that landing big jumps is a breeze compared to my old boots. I assume this is due to the shock absorber under the heel. A fitter put me in a pair of Fischer all-mountain boots that fit worlds better than the SPKs, but I'm concerned about the rigid boot board in these. I definitely don't want to go back to the heel pain I was getting when landing. Unfortunately I have no way of trying these boots before buying them and potentially finding out that landing jumps is a lot more painful than with the SPKs.
Can anyone with experience in more boots than me help me out with this dilemma? Am I correct in assuming that the shock absorbing heel is what makes landing in SPKs so painless? I live on the east coast where landings are like concrete for most of the year.
