So I just came back from skiing at Heavenly up here in Lake Tahoe, where there was some major pow to be had in the right places, after the big storm that just rolled by. I only have two skis at this point, some 2005 k2 public enemies at 159cm, and some line anthem octolands at 161cm. I decided to roll with the Anthems this time because of the wider base(95), hoping that it would be fine in the powder.
While riding some nice trees, I found it pretty hard to control myself/I was getting tired as hell fighting the ski to go the way I wanted it to. I dunno if it was because it was my first day riding this season, or because the anthems weren't meant to do a little back country or I just suck lol. So I've been looking at some skis that are more powder oriented, but still able to handle a bit of park/groomer if I decide to take a break during a pow day at Tahoe and hit the park in between some runs.
I guess I've narrowed it down to pre-2011 169 K2 Obsethed(prolly used since the 2011's are wider and more like the hellbents) or the 175 Armada JJ.
I heard the Armada JJ are more light/playful/noodlier than the K2 Obsethed, and since I'm a pretty light guy, it looks like the JJ would be more fun for me, imo.
I've been using the anthem for about 1 season, and maybe its just be, but the anthem feels stiff. is this because i got 161 or what? They also are kind of heavy imo
Oh and, I'm thinking about selling my k2 public enemies, should i take the bindings off of that and mount them on my new ski, or sell it with the PEs? They are some pretty nice look bindings, I forgot the details, but they do rotate a little bit at the heel end I think.
CLIFFNOTES: I'm riding line anthem octolands 161 right now, I want a better pow/park ski. Armada JJ 175 or K2 Obsethed 169 and why?
