Gopro quistion on filming on 1080p

so when im filming on 1080p and i go to look at the filmage on the computer its laggy, oyu will see the film then it scips to a differt part of the film alil after the first part, its almsot like it doenst capture all the footage.

just wondering if this is the same for every one or just for me.

+k for help, and im still wating for gopro to email me back about this subject...

I'm wondering the same thing. When I film r3, its not fluid like it should be. not a big deal but I have a MBP that always been plenty fast. I'm not concerned about it though. once I start editing I export it plays fine

I think your problem, even though you say you have a fast pc, is that it isnt quite fsat enough. 1080P is ALOT of data and needs a powerful computer to watch it fluidly. Somethings i do (i have a good pc but even then it lags a bit) is to use quicktime, for some reason it is smoother in that.

A simple test would be to convert your 1080p footage to say 720p and then play it back. If there are spots where it skips, then the camera is the problem not your pc.

thanks, im going to check if it laggs on our tv, but how do u  convert it to 720?

how much RAM do you have? i have a macbook pro with 4gb of RAM, and 1080p occasionally skips on me if i have a lot of other apps running. kill everything else that's running so quicktime/fcp can use as much RAM as you have available. also, in fcp, you should be able to set in the preferences how much hard drive space you want to use for temporary memory. crank that up and it should help as well.

mine only happens when i'm playing the raw footage with quicktime. once I import into imovie everything works fine. I'm using a MBP with 4gb ram

you should try playing it with VLC media player ...

i have an old dell 4gig ram and i cannot stream in regular mediaplayers, only vlc does the trick ....

so to answer your question, it's most likely your PC ...

(make sure all background tasks are closed when playing your footage or editing....)
