Separated my shoulder last week in the park. Doctor said surgery wouldnt be necessary and that I couldn't injure it any more than I had. Wondering if anyone else has had a similar injury and how long they took it easy on the hill.
i separated my ac joint (shoulder separation) last February. Doc were retarded and said it would take 1 to 2 weeks and i would be allright. It took 2 months before i could do basic arm functions. All i can say is for the first month keep that puppy in a sling. it sucks big time but will help so much. My shoulder still hurts to this day i just deal with it. there is a crazy huge bump on it and it only got like 70 percent in it. it will be like that for the rest of my life. Get well soon. wait a couple weeks at least before you get back up there. to see when your ready for the park check your shoulder out on a trampoline. if you can do most of the stuff you have been able to do you should be allright. get well.
not skiing park for awhile. My left which i did 2 years ago is still fucked. And Ik what your talking about. I know have 2 big ass bumps on each shoulder. It never feels in place and it always stiff.
Deff take your time in recovery and make sure it doesnt hurt at all before you go back into the park.
I tore my ac joint (stage 3 separation) on opening day of last season. It hurt like a bitch, but my Dr. also said surgery was not necessary unless I wanted it (mostly for cosmetic reasons) so I chose not to. Bothered me for a 6 weeks or so but feels fine now. I rode after taking about 2 weeks off, don't fall on it though bc it will feel horrible.
i seperated my right shoulder like 4 years ago. I still skied but just put my arm in sweatshirt pocket to keep it from going anywhere and hurting and i just cruised around with my friends. I couldn't lift my arm up for a couple weeks but after about a month it was pretty much back to normal.
Depends on the dislocation. I had a forward dislocation 2 years ago and I'm still not back to normal. The arm ripping forward out of socket ripped the spiderweb of nerves and therefore losing complete control of a few arm muscles. I would take a separation any day over this.
Dislocated my shoulder last year, 5 hour surgery… first day back 6 months later dislocate it again. im still out. AC separations are much faster recovery times it seems
i separated mine like a week ago (for the 4th or 5th time). shit is so gay. the only positive thing is that in most cases, you're just as likely to separate your good one as your bad one. but count on that shit being sore as fuck for a while. did anyone get MRIs on theirs?
WORST ADVICE EVER. if you ever want full range of motion with your arm don't wear your sling for that long.
maybe two weeks at most in a sling, but even if it hurts stop wearing your sling and slowly work back to using it again. i've done both of mine (grade 3 and 2) and my doctor told me to even stop wearing it after a week.
most annoying injury ever though, so hard to tell when it's 100%. mine still bother me a lot if i tweak it weird skiing.
i had a stage 3 seperation. it was pretty bad and i got a hardcore sling for it that i didnt remove for 6 weeks, even showered with it. the one i had applied pressure pushing the joint inwards to.
i feel i recovered great giving it that much time...its an easy injury to redo after its happened once so you want it to heal as best as possible. i got a bump and its a bit stiffer but its fine.
