CoreUPT TJ vs Salomon Suspect, yet another 'which ski'-thread

Hey NS, my first post here, and would be much appreciated if i can get some answers.

I'm looking to buy new skis, and i've got a nice offer at my local skishop for a pair of suspects.
But i've also been looking at the CoreUPT TJ pro model, which is a cheaper ski, but hence the offer the two skis + bindings will cost about the same.

So my question is, which of the two is more durable?

I've read around here and see that a lot of people flame the suspects, but I just don't understand why everyone rides them, also the guy at the ski shop told me they are quite durable.
The other aspects of the skis seem like they are pretty much the same, the TJ might the a little bit softer, while the suspect is a little bit wider.

I'm a big guy, 6'2" and weigh like 190 lbs, so i'm gonne give the skis quite a beating.

Thanks, and sorry if there's already a thread about this, but I did a search and found nothing of the two skis compared.

oh, and i'm pretty much a beginner. Got the 360's down and working with 5's now.
I'll also be hitting boxes (no rails), but mostly kickers.

The guy at your ski shop was lying. All the people I have ever seen with Suspects regret it because they aren't durable at all. They say they're great skis, but not worth it unless you're sponsored and can get a new pair whenever you want.

Suspects ski great, there's not a whole lot of dispute about that, but too many issues. There's a huge amount of the skiing population that buy based on graphics and what the pros ride, and Salomon's pro team is yoked. As for CoreUPT, no experience at all, sorry.

There's other stuff that skis just as well, but isn't going to fall apart as easily. If you do decide to go the suspect route (pun intended, yesss) make sure to put a Salomon binding on and double your warranty.

you're obviously high, dumb, ignorant, oblivious, or some combination of them all.

The Suspect has the highest failure rate in skiing, there are very few skis out there that can say they half of the initial run didn't last two seasons.

I just put up a review of my TJ Pros. Can't comment on the suspects I'm afraid, but I haven't heard good things.

Explain why my suspects still have egdes and still looks like new compared to my punx...

In 20 days I managed to get full rocker, an edge pullout and thats from jumping only... I tried to destroy my suspects but atm only managed to get 3 edgecracks and I am talking about the first generation suspects.

I'm talking about last year punx... Oh yeah at 25 days and I had 3 skis because one of my punx snapped in half.


A friend of mine have this years punx and 3 days worth of skiing his edges were completely ruined, edgecracks everywhere..

So tell me.. Are suspects really better than punx?

no, they arent..

salamon's edge armor technology on the suspects is utter shit. they often snap rendering the ski unusable. not to mention the shitty overall construction of the ski. admittedly they are a good ski if you can ride them for a week then trash them because of something that went wrong. but for us normal non sponsored skiers suspects would not be a smart purchase.

This, my friend has them, he has never skied them on the mountain yet and has only done some back yard rails. After about 5 back yard sessions, the skis are completely done, he wont even be able to ski them at our mountain cause they are braking in half.

Thanks everyone, and thanks ankhou for the review!

I'll see what I do, the TJ's look like a nice choice, but the 183 are sold out, so might even go for the suspects, since I'm not really gonna be skiing much this season, and I'm not gonna be jibbing much at all.
Still gonna have a look around to see if I can find another ski though.

look dudes ive skiid on salomon suspects for the past year on BRUTAL dryslope and there in mint condition ,the edges perfect

there a sick ski ,nice and stable ,fast and durable and landing on them is beast
