Replying to I need help coming up with an idea (math related)

bdonn:
Ok, so in a few weeks I need to teach a 7th grade math class that I have been working with since September.

The teacher will have already taught the subject, but I am responsible for reinforcing the subject matter by doing some sort of review, followed by an activity.

The subject that I am covering is:

-Introducing functions / What a function is ex) find y: [4,y] in the equation 2x + 1 = y
-Evaluating expressions ex) 2n + 4 = 8
- Solving, adding, and subtracting equations ex) 3n - 2n = 8 or 8n + 2n = 10

I can easily come up with a lesson for the class, but what I need help with is coming up with an activity for the kids to do after I teach my lesson. In other words, I need a real life scenario where these math tools come into play...

If you can think of anything I would really appreciate it.
