hey, can't decide between the two. I live in the PNW so need it to be able to handle ice and heavy pow. Both look the same on paper, just need user advice now
My buddy and I demoed both these skis. I chose the s3 (a little lighter) and he chose the blends. You're right, on paper the specs are nearly identical, but they both ski essentially the same..can't go wrong with either; we both were laughing this weekend in 1.5ft of pow with them! Both awesome skis.
I demoed both and actually thought the Blend was way better for groomers. The S3 felt dead, Blends were more lively. Also I don't really see how S3s would be a lot better for pow. Both have some rocker and have about the same width.
This basically just shows skiing is down to taste. I happen to remember you also ride Lizzies and rode EPs so clearly we don't even have that different taste.
I thought the exact opposite pretty much, I found the rockered Blend lacked solid grip in the carve that the old ones had and I felt the S3 held an edge much better when pushed. In pow the S3 just had a smoother way of cutting through the snow, it slashed more nicely too. Its probably a less jibby ski than the Blend but going forward, especially when skiing hard, I found it more stable.
I ride s3's in the park and they are so fun! Plus iv skied them in a little pow and they handle great as of yet! I don't know much about the Blends but the S3's are dope
