chris webby, mac miller and sam adams are god awful. tired of hearing anyone with a computer making shit music and getting paid for it. anyone else feel me, post music that you feel is true hip hop on here...

Here's a freestyle I did...It's not all that lyrically great but for a freestyle I feel good about it. You can't take yourself too seriously, so if suburban rappers are a 'fucking joke' then so be it, I enjoy the music.

A few reasons. I'm vyvansed out right now, so I'm a bit hyperfocused. Secondly, there's a metronome on the screen of my computer that allows me to visually keep time. For some reason a visual metronome keeps me on time and allows me to think about what I'm going to say next; if it's all in the ears, I get distracted. So I keep my eyes on that the entire time and I won't get off beat.

Word. When doing any sort of improvisation your eyes can fuck you up so you got to focus on something, not focus them at all, or "shut them off"/close them. I don't rap but when I improvise playing jazz (I play trumpet) the same things apply.

Whenever I get back after recording my eyes are dilated as FUCK and everyone asks if I'm tripping. I can't just zone out with any musical instrument though, the only one I can do it with is the violin, and even then I still have to keep focus on the fingerings and bowings. Guitar is easier for sure...I need to learn how to do jazz improvisation, I love the genre. Would probably help with my producing as well. :P

after starting this thread i began to notice how ignorant I was sounding. All these white kids should have the same opportunity as any other ethnicity. that's not was hip hop is all about. They are all just kids, most rappers suck when they start and then they find their true voice.

they are bad right now but if they put in the work and really devote themselves to the craft they will  gain a much larger fan base that crosses all ethnicity and socioeconomic classes.

Oh, and I know for a fact that chris webby would absolutely rip into the biggest names in hip hop in a battle. Most of these white, college rappers are actually ridiculously smart. I 100% agree.  Miller and Webby make almost 0 dollars, and neither of them rap about being hard or ghetto or anything.  They rap about shit that just about every northeastern suburban white kid can relate to. Webby puts all his shit up online for free, and just put up a full mixtape today and crashed the datpiff server, which has never happened before.  Webby is one of my favorite artists right now, and could kill most bigger names in a battle.  His lyrics and references are unbelievable, even though his songs are hit or miss.  He's got some reallllllll good tracks, but some I think just don't flow.  Listen to songs like Bulletproof, Certified, or Don't Know Why and tell me he sucks.

I love Mac... Believe it or not I actually started listening to him before he really started to get noticed (I'm from Pittsburgh) and his music has always been great. I mean, its not like rap has to all be hardcore shit about killing people and shooting dope in tha hood.

That being said Mac isn't exactly suburban considering the fact that the school he went to was part of the Pittsburgh Public School district...

Yea to completely zone out there needs to be like a perfect connection between ears and the instrument. Like you can't think about what you need to do to play, you just have to hear the note in your head and have it come out of the instrument without thinking about the fingerings at all. It's like singing from an instrument. And learn some jazz improv it's fun as hell.

I honestly think Hoodie Allen peaked with the You are not a robot song. It's so sick and I just find that his other songs aren't on the same level.

Also, I know NS loves to hate on him, but I honestly think Sam Adams fucking kills it. I find his lyrics are a lot more well put together than most of these guys with the exception being miller and webby.
