Is 50 bucks to get bindings mounted too much??

My local ski shop wants to charge me 50 to get my skis mounted, said they would do the DIN settings and everything but seems pretty effin steep to me. how much should they be charging?

I think thats around fair maybe a bit steep. I think I got charged 20-30 for mine and I had bought the skis there

but ya that sounds pretty pricey my hill would totally do it for free and im sure you could find some handy human to do it for you

or smeone on here could walk you through it cuz it aint that harrrd

Yes. At the shop i work at, we charge $25 for a mount and $15 for an adjust. If you bought the skis and bindings there and have your receipt, we mount them for free. Same with an adjust, if you bought your new boots at our shop, we'll adjust them for free. So basically, most of the time it will be free.

No. If you didn't buy the skis or bindings or boots from them, or your not a regular customer there, then no, that's pretty standard.

If you bought something from them, then yeah, that's a little steep. If you're a regular customer that is loyal to the shop, then yes, probably then also it would be steep.

You have to look at it from the shop's point of view. They aren't making much money off you, and in turn you're getting piece of mind that your bindings are mounted correctly. I know some shops that charge $75 for walk in customers.

Overall, 50 is pretty reasonable. I bet buying something cheap like a movie and talking to them about skiing for a while would bring that down tho, if they're a cool shop that is.

I paid 50 for mine because I hadn't bought anything from them, just showed up and wanted my unmounted abangers with my rossy 120 bindings. The bindings had been used before too so he had to make a custom template to mount them so i'd say $50 for me was pretty fair : )

The shop is pretty reputable and im pretty sure they will do all the little tuning and DIN settings and all that stuff. I would really rather have someone else do it who knows what they are doing instead of having someone walk me through it. I did call over the phone too and Ive been in there alot so maybe when I go into the shop personally the price may be different.

what.... we dont charge shit if you buy the skis here. and we very rarely charge you for everything, unless you bought the skis and bindings and boots somewhere else (like online), then we charge you up the ass...
but yeah its around $50

i do mine for free in my basement

i never have to drive anywhere, i never have to wait, and it mostly gets done correctly

i download the paper templates for free, measure with my calipers, punch the holes, and drill those fuckers. POW, mounted skis

Where is this standard?  Just curious, because $30 for a mount is expensive in Colorado.  I usually pay $15 if I can't have a friend mount them in time.

$60 by me. there's 2 shops within probably 50 or 100 miles so they have a complete monopoly over all their prices, although one shop is pretty legit and family run

Where did you buy the skis, boots and bindings? If you bought your complete set up someplace else, then no, it's not unreasonable. Seems fair to me.

If you bought one of your hardgoods (skis, boots, bindings) from the shop and they want to charge you 50, then it's a bit steep. 15-25 would be more fair.

If you bought the skis and bindings from them it should be free.

this is incredibly low, most shops will be between $40-$50. Some are as high as $100, but I've only ever heard of that in some kind of scary story.

Shop techs are usually paid well, and they have to go through a lot of training. Typically, when you spend around $50 you will be getting really good service from people who know what they are doing and will listen to your requests.

Never hurts to bring beer or baked goods too (at the very least it bumps you up the wait list).

that's pretty spot on. the shop i worked at charged 35 for a mount and 15 for an adjust and test. so $50. my local shop charges $43.56 for a mount. so that's not bad.

I was forced to use Colorado Ski Shop for a mount last year on my way up to Mt. Snow, because I needed the skis for the next week and a half...Needless to say they somehow managed to mount one of my heelpieces slightly crooked and I was charged somewhere between $57 and $60.

ill just have them do it, by the time i get all the equipment to do it right and all the stress of possibly destroying my new skis 50 bucks will be worth it

If you are a real baller you get that shit fo free... haha but $50 is super expensive. I'd look for $20 and $30 at the most. The people/shop who's doing it for you is low ballin ya.

unfortunately they have a monopoly on the ski/snowboard industry in town, really unbeliveable because i live in an area right next to several large towns, but no ski tech shops, only this one. I kinda want to ask to watch and see how its done if i can watch i might be able to spend the 50 bucks

went into the shop and talked skiing with the dude and he said decided to charge me 20 instead of fifty, very cool dude :)

he also discouraged me from going dead center mount.
