How Has Skiing Changed Your Life?

    Last year around this time I wouuld be playing Call of Duty.  It had taken over my life and I had no motivation to do anything other than sit on my ass.  I didn't hang out with friends much, although I could have.  Then last March I went skiing for the first time.  Immediatley I fell in love.

    Since that day my Call of Duty playing has stopped.  When the school year started I've made some really good friends who also enjoy skiing.  I often hang out with them when we are not skiing also.  I have had more fun skiing than I ever had playing CoD and i know I am no longer waisting my life away.  I have began helping around the house again and I no longer drag myself off the PS3 to do my homework.

    I guess my point is that skiing can impact your life greatly.  I encourage you to get your friends into skiing so they can experience the best sport on the planet!

my knees pop. and my wallet is a lot lighter... .. but really i cannot imgagine not skiing.. been doing it since i was 4..   i do say.. when i am up at the mtn.. i am happy as a fucking clam!

Hell yea man, that's good to hear. I think that's case whenever you take up a fulfilling hobby that you have a true passion for. It naturally leads to improvements all around in your life.

As for me, I can't really say how skiing changed my life because skiing has always been a part of my life and I don't know what my life would be like without it. The change would be if I didn't have skiing in my life, now there is a scary thing to think about.

What! This is exacltly my story but replaces the PS3 by a XBOX 360!!

I also got a more dozen friends thanks to the ski, Its now my passion!

I had wanted to go skiing my whole life and I finally went.  Now, like you, i cant imagine my life without it.  Your right it is a passion and its important to have a passion in life or you'll die feeling like you've accomplished nothing. A passion will give you a purpose in life.

i have skied for as long as i can remember, since i was 3
if i didn't have skiing, i would have no reason to enjoy winter, which is a large part of the year here in vt

^word.......its something to look foward to after those looong weeks/days at school, nothing else brings the hapiness and freedom that skiing does. I got some rare powder turns in on Saturday while everybody else was in the park (i live in the midwest)...most fun i had in a long time, looking for new lines and embracing the freedom that skiing provides.

my family was invited on a road trip to colorado 5 years ago. my dad already knew how to ski but the rest of my family didnt. i became immediately hooked and even though i live in the midwest i can't tell you how much time i dedicate to skiing. hopefully i get in to the university of denver so i can spend more time on real mountains.

without skiing my life would be shocking. id be travelling sideways down the hill with my feet fixed to these big plastic strap bindings. id probably spend most of my time sitting at the top of the park rather than actually hitting features and my pants would be so tight around my knees that you could see veins poking through. oh and i wouldnt have any balance...because two planks are better than one

Hmmmmm. How has skiing impacted my life?
1. I've been dumped by two girlfriends in 4 months.
2. I'm one broke ass motherfucker.
3. I'm always tired and my parents hate driving me places.
However...
I would probably kill myself without skiing and that would basically just be the end of it.

1. I haven't had a steady relationship since I got serious about skiing, which was about in 8th grade.
2. My grades have consistently gotten higher so that I can keep skiing and telling my teachers "LOL 4.0 FAG" when they get mad at me for my absences.
3. I'm a competitive mogul skier.
4. Moguls have helped me become a wayyy better all around skier as well as teaching the basic fundamentals for skiing in the park.
5. My college and career will probably be based around skiing.
6. Its kept me off of hard drugs.
7. Its turned me into an alcoholic.
8. Its given me some of the best friends and community that anyone could ever ask for.

i had no friends until i figured out the "cool kids" at my middle school skiied/boarded, skied with them, turned out i was the hotshot, made some great friends

I'm always broke. I get random pains in my knees and shins and have numb spots on my right hip and thigh. I chose my university degree because it gave me the chance to ski more. I don't have a career to speak of. I moved across the world away from my family and friends to live in the mountains, doing so led to the break up of a 7+ year relationship. I've had to stop playing football which was always my second love. I adore cold weather. I am more happy, content and confident than I would have ever been without it.

Skiing has changed my life soooooooooooooo much. It introduced me to many new people and things. I got to meet a lot of pro skiers such as steve stepp, tanner hall, tom wallisch, and simon dumont. It also introduced me to many illegal substances. i started off smoking the reefer and now im a huge meth addict. ITS AMAZING!!!!! Also getting the bitches on ma d piece is awesome:)

It influences the clothes I wear, the friends I make, the music I listen to, along with alot of other things. The only thing I really regret is how much it has taken my focus away from my guitar playing, I used to be pretty good, but Ive stopped playing as much at nights because i go night skiing or sit around on newschoolers. Im ok with it though, skiing gives me a feeling of satisfaction that I used to get with guitar, and as long as I have that, Ill be fine

My calf muscles are disproportionately more muscular than the rest of my mostly flabby body. Also obv its more physical activity in the winter and it gives me motivation to go find athletic shit to do in the summer to make up for skiing.

it opened my eyes to the only sport ever where i can fall on my face as many times as i want and only get better because of it.

in basketball when i mess up and make a tunrover, i have my ugly redhead coaches face in mine bitching me out, that doesnt make me better at all, but when i fall in skiing i can realize what i did wrong, maybe get laughed at, but never yelled at, and shred on

when i was 12 i suffered a severe traumatic brain injury while trying a 1080, similiar to CR Johnson's story from what i know, i missed a ton of school that year and my brain wasnt nearly close to fully recovered when the school year came around so my parents held me back in 7th grade, it was really tough to deal with at the time. Making new friends, the school work its self. but overall this changed me as a person, i learned to enjoy every day because you do not know whats going to happen tommorow.

after about 2 years, i can not imagine what my life would be like if this didnt happen... i wish i knew
