Are these skis mounted forward of centre?

in the last picture it looks like justin dorey's skis (on the left) are mounted further forward than centre. ive heard jon olsson is famous for doing this but i dont understand it. isnt the point of centre mounting so that you get equal swing weight? doesn't it make the ski unstable at speed if you're mounted forward of centre? and doesn't it defeat the shape of the ski, even if its a symmetrical ski?

I think a little front of center might be ideal for swing weight because the fulcrum of the force being applied to your legs from the centrifugal force of the rotating ski is closer to your heel than toes. I don't mount skis like this, but it makes some sense.

i know what you're talking about and logically speaking you're right but i thought that would have been offset by the overly sensitive steering of the skis.

Nah i'm pretty sure his skis were on their second mount. So instead of going a little back, he opted to go forward a bit.
