he makes a living off entertaining people and being a public icon.
you cant just say 'he's out doing what he wants, he has every right', because then he ceases to be an influential marketing tool, which is all that professional athletes are. they're entertainers who need to be aware of their public image. it is, after all, the public that pays their salaries.
being a professional athlete is more than just being good at your respective sport. you represent that sport in the public eye. someone complaining, ranting, and whining to the camera or reporters only does himself, the sport, and his sponsors a disservice.
needless to say, i am not impressed.
