Best Laptop for gift

So for christmas im looking to get my uncle a new laptop to replace his old one using windows 2000. I was hoping to spend around $600 and i think it should be about 13 or 14". Ive been using a mac for the past 4 years so im not really sure what PC's are the best right now. Hes not into anything fancy just a shitload of music and then lots spread sheets and emails. And i live in Canada so hopefully going to best buy or Future Shop. Post a link if there is one. So which laptops are good?

Acer makes some nice i3 machines in that price range. The one that I saw recently had a 15.6" screen, i3-370M (2.4 GHz), 4 gigs of DDR 3 and a 320 gig hard drive for $629.99 US.
