I'm no Evangelical...I'm Catholic but only go to Church when my girlfriend's parents asked me to accompany them during Easter. I say this so the argument that I'm foolhardily defending religion because I was baptized doesn't get in the way when I say that I think you're whole argument is purely based on intolerance. Again, maybe I'm missing this...to which you'll probably reply in a witty one liner like you did in the last retort, but you're coming across as completely theophobic. The piece was about Jossi and what his faith has meant to him; it's not waving a crucifix banner and saying "come join the flock." As for it's appropriateness? He wears got a crucifix on his helmet next to his Monster logo. The last paragraph could've easily have read:

"My relationship with Monster has been a huge part of my life and I have no doubts that it has helped get me to where I am today. I am very blessed..."

So if this was the normal run of the mill article and Jossi said that, no one would bat an eyelash at it, but you put Jesus in an article and you flip your shit. Why is it appropriate to talk about monetary sponsors than what is obviously a very important part of his life?

I think you've completely missed the point of the article and are just looking for something to spout of from your pulpit.

First of all, I'll take the Stephen Hawking comment as a compliment. The dude is a genius who got his hot nurse to marry him despite the fact that he has almost no control over his body and she has to wipe his ass. The dude is clearly a baller.

Schmuck went to Jossi and asked him to write an article about his faith to give some personal insight into it. He wasn't asked to write an article to try and convert people to Christianity. Isn't Schmuck the editor? Therefor he can publish whatever he likes, it's just trying to give different perspectives on different things. I really can't see what you're problem is with it, it just seems that you are intolerable towards Christianity.

My whole response to your original post stands on the grounds that I think you're wrong to presume what's good editorial content for the 'zine. As said before, this is obviously a very integral part of Jossi's life and as such, has just as much business on the "pages" of any ski mag as what's on his iPod or his next movie segment. I think skiing encompasses so much more than gear guides, pictures and ads. I think any serious journalist would agree.

As far as the Atheism & Religion debate? Sure, it's easy for me to fall on the argument that your atheist and disinterested. That's fine, more power to you. You, too, could have just have easily said "If Jossi wants to believe in Jesus, that's cool, do your thing" from the get go. But as your argument goes, it's bordering on offensive. While I won't disagree with you on the fallibility of institutions, calling people's beliefs, which very well maybe extremely important to their identity, a "business model" is really uncalled for and narrow minded, and to add to your last point, I think Jossi talking about his Faith (not Religion) and Evangelizing are two completely different things.

I tolerate an individuals right to choose/practice their own religion, I distrust most religious institutions (explained above), and I actively object to religious propaganda, especially when it is veiled. If you consider each of those statements carefully, you will have an easier time understanding where I am coming from because I can't debate this all day.

I have read everything you have said. You're just giving off this moral high / You're opinion is the only one that matters persona. Sure I'm the same as you, objecting religious propaganda blah blah all that stuff but this is by no means that. It's just someone explaining their faith. You don't have to like it or agree with it, just get over it that it's not your type of thing.

Normally I would write a 20,000 word post to debate this issue, but I'm not going to because this argument is silly.

People get tired of reading the same shit over and over. We did something different. Different is good, even if its racy.

I don't care in the slightest if it should/shouldn't be in there. We want to get to know the athletes in a deeper fashion than regular, and Jossi is a religious dude, thusly making it a relevant fact.

why the cover picture change? photog issues?

The photo we originally used is very similar to a shot another photographer took that has the potential of becoming an ad or magazine cover, so out of respect for him we changed it up.

Fuck you Schmuck, there was no mention of which gangster rapper was best in any of those pro's articles. That is all that matters. Who care's about anything else.


But really, Jossi and Dorey were great, the whole anti-superficial campaign was well done, i wish it had some protogs or writers telling their own story instead of someone elses like they usually do.
