Unmounting by yourself?

i did it by myself and i know pretty much nothing about skis and i sold them and they were fine for that person, 40 to take them off is bullshit, but i have no idea if its actually bad for them or not.

You're taking screws out of your skis, it doesn't do shit.

throw some waterproof woodglue in there, don't screw them in too tight or you'll strip the holes.

you dont need to put glue in i guess, but it sure doesn't hurt. and you definitely dont want stripped holes.

screwing and rescrewing dosnt do to much to the skis. does weakon the holes a little. if you do find that they are loose once you screw them back in then take them to the shop to get heli coiled. but you should be right if you do it once our twice, just dont do it all the time

Don't take it to the shop, just get the right size phillips head srew driver and do it yourself. Plus $40 is bullshit. I mount my own skis now mainly cause half the people that work in ski shops don't know what there doing. It's pretty easy it just takes longer cause you don't have a jig. If you remount your other skis try using sikaflex, it's so strong and flexes so it won't freeze up, crack and rip out. If you think $40 is alot i know a shop that charges $190 to mount skis. 

if you're just into unmounting your bindings save your 40$, just unmount alone.

Take a philips head and file the tip down. You now have a Posi-drive, which should prevent stripping the screws.

I can't see any possible way to mess up our skis from unscrewing bindings unless you're like Homer Simpson and start a fire making cereal.

Rescrewing into preexisting holes DOES compromise the integrity of the mount. When skis are mounted, the holes are drilled with a smaller diameter than the screw so that there is a great amount of inward force being exerted on the screw, thereby holding the binding in better. When you unmount, these holes "relax," and if you put bindings back in, the wood does not exert the same pressure and mount will not be as solid.

Also, wood glue has no direct effect on the durability of a mount. All it does is seal the holes from water (assuming you glued them correctly without air bubbles), which can potentially seep in and rot the core, making binding rip-outs easier.

its probably not worth it for a pair of urban skis but quiver killers would be the best thing here.
