Repairing a cracked IPhone?

Somewhere in my drunken stupor last night I thought throwing my iPhone at the ground was a good idea. The screen is now cracked beyond belief and pieces are falling out of it. I am not going to pay Apple 200 bucks to fix it for me, so does anyone have any experience with self-repairing it? I heard about a $13 kit on Amazon that is apparently very good, but I want to see what NS has to say. My other option is someone on campus who does it for $50, as I've seen his posters around campus.

Anything can be fixed with a big enough hammer. Start with like an 8oz and gradually work your way up to a sledge until it starts working



But seriously theyre pretty easy to fix, look on youtube

When i cracked my iphone screen i jsut went to an apple store and bitched at a guy till they repaired it for free.

I paid somebody off craigslist 40 bucks to switch mine. there are a ton of tiny screws that I'd rather not fuck around and lose, but if you feel determined you can do it yourself.

option B is to have the hottest girl you know wear a really revealing shirt and go convince the dude at the genius bar to fix it free..

I've repaired six or seven iphone screens. it's honestly one of the hardest phones to work on that I've ever come across, but it's definitely doable if you are somewhat electronically savvy. if your LCD isn't cracked, and it's just the front glass that is damaged, then it will cost you about 10 bucks for replacement glass off of amazon.

there are plenty of instructional videos on youtube that will walk you through the process. it's not too bad, but it's not as easy as a lot of other phones that I've repaired.

i would talk to some people who had their phones done by the guy on campus.. if he did a good job then just go with him. otherwise go to the apple store and just get it replaced, that way if you fuck it up again ever it will still be under warranty. my screen was replaced the first time by a random dude for $50ish and it was fine, but then I killed it a couple months later and ended up having to buy a new phone because apple wouldn't replace it.
