Well this is my reply,

I was taking my time to see if anyone was going to step it up and try to defend us . And that hasnt happend. So its a defeat again. But I would still like to explain myself,

Yesterday I received a really sad phone call. Because of this thread and all the hate on Girls on Skis, one of my athletes decided she didn't want the bad publicity and pulled away from the team. Things have really gotten out of hand yet again. I think I was pretty clear with the purpose of this thread, maybe I wasn't, and I apologize for not being more clear. I wanted to know what we should change for 2011 in order to get more recognition and more help. I didnt ask any coments about the video. I didnt ask for Jackies approval on posting the video and that is my mistake, it was originally posted on Ahmet Dadalis wall on facebook and I thought she did some amazing tricks in there and I just wanted to hype up her talent. I was no way looking for comments about the quality of the video. Again I'll say it, I am not a professional. I continue to learn everyday.

After a raging 3 page of hate on Girls on skis , I think its pretty clear that you guys dont like what we do and unfortunetly you are the ones that keep us alive.

At first, In my head, it was an amazing project. Girls finally had some support. I was facing a lot of hate, but I still managed to put some smiles on some girls faces, and faith in their hearts that they were finally getting the support they needed to make it in this sport. Of course people were going to hate on the videos but I didnt care because finally someone was going to film the girls and I think that they deserved it. I am not a videographer but I think I have improved a lot since last year and I had a lot of fun producing the videos aswell.

This year, I won an award for that project. Finally my work payed off and I had some really good coments coming from legit based people in the industry. I also met a really special person, Riley Poor. He made me realise that I was doing wonderful stuff despite having my serious health issue. ( don't wanna go into details)

Since my post about the award. People started to attack personally, I have been receiving prank calls, and even photos on my phone, coming from anonymous numbers.

I dont think I ever tried to do anything wrong , the criticism is always good, but not the hate. It has gotten way out of proportion.

I am really questioning if I should stop all this and remove myself from the ski industry. I am also questioning if you guys really wanna help womens skiing because I didnt see anyone stepping it up or even wanting to help just a little.

So on this really sad thursday December 16th 2010, I am officially putting Girls on skis on hold.

I cant work full time on this and get bashed on. Maybe people will realise how much we have done and the place we take when we will be gone. This also is very sad because by doing this, I am abandonning some really good athletes that deserved to be helped.
I hope this opens your eyes on the weight that your comment have on the chances we have and the girls have to make it in this ski world.
I am really thankfull to everyone that has helped in any way for the last year and a half . To all the resorts and sponsors that has supported us. I am sorry to say this project has been a failure and I will take this time off to make some changes and come back with something better. this is why NS sucks. haters are gona hate, no matter what. your doin an awesome thing for all the girls on the team and thats all that matters.

this website is full of ignorant dumbasses, it sucks but if you weed through all of that theres still a quality core of people on NS. hope you guys change your minds and come back this year

This is really upsetting.

Sure some girls don't have the female mindset and can go as hard as the guys with out anything extra.

But I'm not one of those girls. I learn a lot better when I'm with a rad group of girls and we can push each other. I think it is sad that there would be any sort of negative feedback towards a group that is just trying to get other women involved and trying to push the progression in the women's world.

There are tons and tons of women's groups popping up right now. Do you want us to stick around? Do you want women to push themselves harder and try to keep up with the boys? Then you need to give us the opportunity to get ourselves there with out putting us down for it.

Maybe I can't do a 900, but it doesn't mean I love the sport any less than you. Same goes for every single participant of Girls on Skis.

Ski and have fun, if you're skiing with your crew and having a good time then who cares what anyone else on NS or on the hill has to say.

Don't quit after a little adversity, and NS is little, very little. These types of ideas take years to foster, and no one else is going to pick up the mantle if you quit. If you fail miserably, you fail, but don't just quit, you don't want to be a quiter do you? NO one likes a quitter.

The thing is, newschoolers seems to be the only one putting this project down. If they were to ignore newschoolers and just get feedback from the rest of the freeskiing community I'm guessing they would get much different results. you cant take a bunch of 13 year olds on the internet seriously, they will hate on someones first dub attempt when they cant even do a 360.

Newschoolers is just full of a bunch of haters, you can't take them into all seriousness. Sure, NS is a part of the ski world, but it's not everything in the ski world. I think that it's great that there's a group of all female skiers trying to put their stuff out into the industry, and I really don't think that it should stop just because of some 13 year old haters. I hope that you guys figure stuff out and don't base all of your decisions off of NS, because I really do think that you guys have talent and support, just maybe not from NSG, naturally.

Why is the thread called excuses?

To be honest, I didn't think the hating was as bad as I have seen it before on NS. And anyway, who cares? To have a rider quit over NS hate, is taking NS to seriously. I find it quite amusing that her friends have come on here defending her by calling everyone on NS rich brats, taking skiing and the internet too seriously. Coming on here calling everyone out, and quitting a project over NS hate, now that's taking skiing and NS too seriously! With that being said, I thought the girl slayed pretty hard, sure the filming was shit, but I thought the skiing was on point!

I think it's great that someone is trying to push womens skiing, or skiing in general.
The way girlsonskis have gone about it, has left a lot to be desired though. The sense of entitlement from just being girls was quite strong, especially in the early days. That, I think, was the major factor in pissing people off, and generating hate. But this all comes down to separating the good critique from the bad. Sure there's tons of hate there, but there's lots of good idea's as to how to proceed in there as well.

Thing is, some of the edits ARE shockingly bad, so why not try to up your game before becoming all defensive?
Some of the edits are very COCKY, turn the bling factor down a knotch.

All in all, keep going, the idea is really good, but you have made some fundamental mistakes. Learn from them, don't quit.

Yeah you're totally right, they should just succumb to criticism and give up on their dreams. It really is a good recipe for success.

I say if you're being ripped on that much at least you're drawing attention. Look at all the eheath hate that used to go one, he soldiered on and is still filming today.

Thick skin, it does a body good.

Yes you are right, but there is a point where you can't take it anymore.

If you get pestered and annoyed constantly EVERY human being has a breaking point.

I'm just saying it's really easy to say something because you do not have the same perspective as someone who is really experiencing it.

I am just taking some time off to rethink this entire thing and come up with something better.
I accept that I have done many mistakes and I will keep on learning.
I cant take the heat rite now. And im not trying to draw any attention with this message, just to inform people that have been following us since the beggining that we will be gone for a little, but we will come back.
Girls on skis is still a foundation, so the girls will still get help from us but there wont be exposure anymore, at least for now.
Theres a limit to what I can take, and when it comes to attacking me personally with prank calls it goes a bit overboard.
Thanks for the criticism, I will take all of this very carefully.

Yeah I guess your right, I've never filmed anything let alone tried to get a production company going or whatever is going on here.

I'm just trying to give supportive advice man.

If their original purpose was to become a huge internet sensation and blow up like TOM WALLISCH then perhaps they have failed so far.

If their original purpose was to have fun, film girls skiing, and maybe open some doors for ladies that don't usually have a lens focused on them, then I'd say they are doing pretty good so far.

I'm just blown away that anyone would quit something like this endeavor over internet criticism and some preank phone calls. Haters gonna hate no matter what you are doing, you just gotta prove em wrong and stick with it.

They are excuses regarding the people that I have offended .
Especially Jackie, who is exceptional skier and person and she didnt deserve all that hate.
My goal wasnt that but It is my fault if that happened.

I agree that you have to take internet criticism with a grain of salt. Sadly, 90% of those comments came from teenage boys who think putting other people down is a fun hobby. I used to think so, unfortunately. Don't let that get to you, but lots of prank calls and stuf - yuck. How did they even get your number. What you are doing is a good thing. You will probably NEVER get the recognition you desire, because people only want the best, and unfortunately guys will most likely always be better than girls in skiing. Nothing sexist there, just a fact. It is the way we are made. But notice how the good comments you got were from people who have been there and tried it? Don't listen to the chickens who sit at the top of the park and talk abou tothers and can't even throw a nice 3.

Meh, I am just rambling. But no need to make a big deal about it. Take cover for a bit. Come back out publicly with vids when you want.

it's a cool idea to form a crew.  that being said, crews do not make threads like this, they drop edits.  and popular crews drop great edits, with good filming and skiing, not a ton of filler and mediocre shots.  it's that simple.  making this thread is not helping girls on skis.

Take some pointers from First Drop and harden the fuck up. That company gets so much hate on here. When they release new products, when they drop an edit, when people see their new line, when they make dumb threads in the ski gabber. But they're still here, and they're still afloat.

And what exactly is girls on skis? It's always been pretty vague to me.

It is unfortunate that so many people would rather attack than encourage. I despise the fact that internet annonimity makes it so easy to hate, and that the females in our sport become such easy targets.

While I agree that some of your projects were not up to the quality they could be and your overreactions often didn't help your cause, I applaud what you were trying to do in supporting the girls of our industry. The bashing thread just proves why groups like yours are absolutely necessary, when the boys are often so negative and unaccepting.

Good luck in your time off and with your future projects.

The project itself, supporting girls in the freesking scene, was in my opinion good and interesting. To be honest, the approach and the way you've done it wasnt the best..

How come when some people get hated on they freak out, make threads and whine, but when i get hated on (and others too) we just take it and go on with our lives? Making threads like this make me lose more respect for girls on skis.

You need to do the following:
1. Stop giving a fuck
2. Make better edits
3. Stop over hyping
4. Stop complaining


With those 4 steps you can succeed.

what youre doing with supporting girls skiing and trying to get them up to par so to speak is a great idea but the way you went about it hasnt helped the cause...nor has this thread.

If everyone was always worrying about what other people thought, greatness would never be achieved.

I think the whole concept of girls on skis was a great idea, exposure for women's skiing. However, I think that your approach wasn't necessarily the best. I think the project needs a little more humbleness. I understand that you want people to get stoked on it, and it to gain exposure, but I don't feel like that was approached the right way. Over hyping things will lead teenagers on the internet to hate. Plain and simple.

My best advice to you would be to take some time, and think of how you can improve the concept and thrive off the hate. Let it push you to become better. I hope that this project continues on in the future. It would be a shame to see such a great foundation to a project just thrown out the window.

Keep doing it although i feel you hyped yourself way to much and the whole concept was a bit whack. You didnt even spell some of your riders names right. I spoke to one and she found it somewhat insulting. Instead of trying to get people spancezerd why dont you guys just have fun, push each other, and keep making edits.

and the fact that you even reply to it just furthers the points you see throughout this thread. Just work on the filming and have fun with your edits, recognition for the work will come as you get more experienced with filming and editing. you dont need to create a thread every time an edit is made, that's what the video section is for. if you want some criticism on your videos, ive noticed the two early season ones i watched had a lot of guys skiing compared to girls, keep that to more of a couple shot cameos from the boys and keep your focus on the girls since that's what your intent is to promote. Also seems like you are trying to do too much on some of the shots, just keep them simple and smooth and let the skiing speak for itself, you can expand your angles when you become more comfortable and familiar with the process of making edits.

The person who attacked you personally had 4 posts. Probably an alias who didn't have enough balls to say it anonymously over the internet from their primary account.

But as many have said before, it's never good to overhype yourself by posting threads every time you drop a new edit. Let the recognition come to you.

I'd also like to point out something else. It seems like one of the main reasons you are attacked is the un-professional way the "Girlsonskis" profile conducts their actions. I'm not sure if it is more than one person, but taking things personally on the internet and responding/starting fights will look TERRIBLE for your program. Don't respond to the hate from kids who are probably worse than the girls in your program. To me, it seems like most comments on most of your threads were generally critical, but gave constructive criticism to help you make better edits. Respect those opinions.

Gab please dont end what you are doing, just because people are assholes doesnt mean you should put it on hold if anything just ignore them and go on with it. i know how bad you want to help these girls out and how much work you have put into it. whichever way you go good luck.

You girls just need to take criticism in stride and not let the drama llama out as often as it has been. You might also want to consider changing the way you interact with other companies, you can criticize and give advice once you yourself act like a mature organization.
