personally, I'm 5'10 135 pounds and i had sth 12's... i broke them off my suspects and ripped them almost in half, I wouldn't recommend them. I think I'm harder on my equipment than most, but with bindings I'd say the markers are better. They are probably all metal so a little more weight but no breakage. If you have the $$ find some look pivots, they're supposedly really nice

well I have not had the STH 12's or griffions but I had the jesters on my last ski and have the STH 16's on my current skis. I really liked the jesters, not too heavy, felt solid and released well when needed. The STH 16's are in my oppion even better. There is no play in the front due to the adjustable toe piece, and even though there a bit heavier I really dont notice it at all. Overall you will do well with either just make sure you go for the driver toe piece rather then the oversize if you go for the STH

if you want reliable release then avoid STH 12s. I had a pair of STH 14s and wouldn't buy them again. They would release on stuff they shouldn't. Griffons would be a great binding for you.

had big problems with my old ones. idk if their brake system is the same as the sths but i released while switch and it ripps these little things holding ur brake in. and to fix it you have to replace multiple parts of the binding. not just the brake.friend had some salomon bindings. did the same thing i did on his first day on them...

The only thing you would have to replace at most is the base plate of the binding which are $20 for the pair. The brake is really easy to put back together. The brakes have changes from the old z12's which I think you had.
BTW any brake is liable to rip off if you realse when landing switch, I have seen this on markes, look, dynastars, and trylioe(or however you spell it).
