Why are you supposed to get longer skis when buying Twin tips? I don't really get the whole center mount affecting it either, anyone generous enough to take the time to clarify things with me please?

the tail tip adds length to the ski without adding edge contact. a 170 ski with only one tip will have a greater running length than a ski the same length with two tips.

if it's center mounted you will have less ski in front of you and they will feel shorter, so you go bigger.
