What skis should I get?

I'm going to get into freeskiing this season and don't know which skis I should buy. I already have some boots I can use and right now I'm on some volkl race skis and a pair of dobermen spitfire pros. I have been skiing since I was little but have always raced and never went to the park. So my question to you guys is whats some good skis to learn park with? And also are park poles really that necessary in the beginning? Thanks in advance.

try line masterminds mayb. and there is no such thing as park poles just get shitty poles and cut them down

Oh yeah and a little more info. I'm 5'11" and weigh about 135 pounds. I have leki world cup GS poles and don't know if getting new ones are really necessary right now until I get better.

The mastermind is by far the best ski I've ever owned so fun and really helped me progress in the park

Okay the masterminds are looking good right now but I also have a pro deal card for nordica do they make any skis that anyone might sudgest?

as soon as i read your post i was thinking masterminds too. good beginner park ski for a pretty cheap price. not to familiar with nordica so can't help you there. and you definitely do not need to spend money on park poles. pole length really is a matter of preference. shorter poles are somewhat easier to manage in the park, particularly when skiing switch but don't go out buying "park specific" poles. they aren't necessary, especially for when you are just learning

Holy cow your scrawny. Anyway. If you are used to stiff/Volkl, try getting some Volkl "Wall" skis, you will probably like that transition better than switching to something uber soft.

air awareness is key. start with straight airs, grabs, then try 1s and 3s. from there it really depends who you are

Someone said air awareness which is a great skill to learn on your first day in the park. You should also try to slide your first flat box. The main thing you want to think about when sliding a box for the first time is to keep your weight on your leading foot. If you don't, you will fall on your back. You will most likely fall a few times like most people, but you'll get up a try again. Practice makes perfect, and before your know it you'll be ready to slide rails and harder features.

The walls a great, but I recommend the ledges for your first park ski. They are cheaper and are ideal for a first pair of park skis. They are symmetrical and very narrow which makes it easier to handle around the park. They are softer then the walls but they aren't noodles, so they should provide plenty of stability. You also weigh 135 lbs. so a very stiff ski like the wall won't be forgiving like the ledges.

Any twin tip is going to be pretty comfortable skiing backwards.  The Mastermind sounds like it'd be too soft for you, those things are like noodles.  Just get really any price point twin tip to try it out and make sure you like it, and be sure to centermount or at least be close to a centermount with them.

When you asked about nordicas earlier in the thread. I've never skied on em but I'm pretty sure their real stiff but not for true beginers so scratch that discount you got for future seasons
