Rossi fks/Look pivot durability

Was just wondering how many sets of pivots people have heard of breaking?

I'm trying to decide between some marker griffon's and the pivots. Just worried if I break the brakes on the pivots, I would have to replace the whole binding. Whereas the griffon's would be a cheaper fix, but maybe they break more often?

I loved everything about my pivots except the breaks. I broke them wayyy too fast. they're an easy fix though. i'd def say fks>griffon

yea, they are great. Just keep your brake arms in and you will be fine.

Yup the only thing that sucks about the fks are the brakes.

Well that could be a pretty big factor IMO. If I break them only once, I'll have to replace the whole binding. Whereas if I break the marker brakes, I can replace em pretty cheap.

So basically, how hard is it to break the fks'? Near impossible? Much harder than breaking a marker?

You can replace FKS brakes.

You wouldnt have to replace the whole binding. You can definitely find old fks brakes. You do have to unscrew the heel piece to get to the brakes though which is kind of annoying.

Can you order brakes through rossi?

I heard the new ones don't fit the old ones?

no, you have to send the bindings in to get the baseplates changed. the risk manager wont let them send out spare brakes even if you're proficient in changing them

and you are wrong, all fks parts work with all other fks parts

i have both and fks by far i felt like the ski came off when it needed to with the fks better designed but a little problem with the fks if you use your skis to take off yor binding you shread the sides a bit but i havent had any problems but if you get the 14 din pivots the toe peice turns and if you get it turned far enough around it kinda gets jammed and takes some hitting it to get it unstuck. i found the markers to be durable but i did break the toe peice. go with the fks pivot by far!!!

i ride dumonts, pontoons and bents all with p18s. never broke a brake and i ride them since 2007.

Alright, decision made. I'll be going with the pivots. They're marked down from 575 to 300, and I have a $250 giftcard to the shop from when they fucked up my binding two years ago.

One more question; I ride with my DIN around 8-10, should I go with the fks 120's or the fks 140's?

Actually upon further review, it looks like the fks 120's are a junior binding. I think I'll be going with the 140's then.

120s aren't made anymore. go with the 14s and you will be just as fine. you're right in the middle with a din of 10 ;)
