Help me help my friend: px12 question

so my friend has a pair of px12 jibs mounted on some old armada arv's. he broke the brake off, including the plate, so they are dangerous to ride. i offered to replace the brake because i have a few extra of the right size. i just tried to do it, and the brake wouldn't fit. the bindings are pretty old, has the brake connection changed in the past? i have a pair from a few years ago and the brakes mount fine, yet i cant get them to connect to his. i try to put them on and push them back as far as i can, same as i normally do, yet they stop about 3mm from where they could be.
my friend needs these skis for next weekend so i need to do this soon. +k for helpful responses

i think they might have changed them. but i got some 07 brakes onto my 2010's. they slipped right in where they should have but there is just a small gap between the brake plate and the heelpiece. but the screw lined up so i figured it works. haven't had any problems yet.

Yea i think they changed them around 06/07? but you should be able to find some way to jimmy rig your way around it by either gutting out/melting out some of the plastic plate, chaning the screw length or re-drilling a new hole in the plate. People break through brakes like no other and they really don't even do much to begin with and are there to make your boot fit properly in on the plate of the binding and "stop" your ski from taking out other people. You might luck out if you go to a shop and they could have an old set of brakes lying around.

alright so after working on it for about 30 minutes, i compared it to the other ski closely and realized that because he didnt have a brake to keep the boot in properly, his foot moved around and bent down the little hooks that secure the brake in place. once i bent them up to their origional position, i was able to jimmy the brake on and get the screw in.
Thanks for the help
