How to solve this to find the derivative

do the derivative of the outside and leave the parentheses the same times the derivative of the tan and leave whats in the parentheses the same (you dont have to worry about the x^1/2) then times this by the derivative of whats in the final parentheses... i think thats how you do it... god i hate calc..

what you need to do is product rule it 1d2+2d1 of the root x and the tan^3(x^1/2)
and chain rule the tan^3(x^1/2)

it will look ugly at first but it usually simplifies nicely

(root x)( the derivative of tan^3(x^1/2) *hint chain rule) + (tan^3(x^1/2)) (x^-1/2 *derivative of the first part)

fuckin amazing that i actually passed calculus back in the day.  my advice is to go ski... cause somehow you'll pass, and then one day you'll be looking at ns and see some calc question, and be like holy shit wat the hell is dat yo

yea, product and chain rule, so rootx(3tan^2(rootx)(1/2rootx))+tan^3(rootx)(1/2rootx)

so 1st(derivative of 2nd)(you need to chain rule it))+2nd(derivative of 1st)

This could possibly be simplified further, but I got (root x)[3(tan^2(root x))(sec^2(root x))] + [(tan^3(root x))/(2(root x))]

use the product rule twice

f prime x g + g prime x f for the inside and then multiply that by x^1/2 using the same method

HOLY DICKS thats a bitch of a chain rule. just break it down and write it all out. always works for me when it seems ridiculously impossible. thats gonna take up a page though... damn!

if that's confusing, then it's simply

(derivative of f)(g(x))+(derivative of g)(f(x))

then do that twice, once for the inside and once for the outside
