Replying to GoPro Concerns?

Looking to get a gopro but i had some concerns before i bought one.

First off, if i get into a wreck thats moderately bad.(ie. tumbling or whatnot) will this camera be intact still and be able to function afterwards?

Also, my second thing is because this has no display picture, how exactly do you know what you are filming when you go and use a 3rd party feature such as ski pole filming or whatnot? I understand you point it at what you want to film but how wide is the filming and such?
