I suffer real bad too, doesn't matter how much money i spend in properly fitted boots with custom insoles and booster straps, a few backseat landings and i'm struggling again.
Honestly I think its because outside of skiing I don't do much sport anymore and I think my lower leg muscles arn't man enough to take the backseat landings and so its stressing the tendon in the front of my shin or maybe even its the beginning of shin splints.
If thats the case the solution is conditioning, stretching and building of the lower leg muscles. Take a good look at yourself, if like me you have a case of 'chicken legs' then get working out. Lookup exercises for building the tibialais anterior in particular.
