ahhhh! im so fucking stoked on this. a kid that went to my high school, who stayed at my house for a bit, and who has always put out great music is getting some recognition.
he's only 21 year old kid from spokane, wa named jerry joiner that's been doing a bit of touring in oregon and now he's going on tour with ANIMAL COLLECTIVE in australia. not just some little 3rd opening act either, ive seen ads for the tour that only say "animal collective featuring girlfriends."
originally he was in some different group projects, but now his solo project, girlfriends, is taking off. he plays all the instruments himself and has the best use of loop pedals ive ever heard. in concert, he starts with guitar, loops it, and works his way around about 4 different instruments, including synth, looping them all, until he gets to the drums and screams out his lyrics.
he's amazing, and of all people he deserves this recognition. his album is free online and you can look up girlfriends on facebook to follow his stuff, because he's gonna blow up real soon.
