-Shoot him 3 times with a .40 to the chest
-Cops order him to take hands out of pockets
-The guy vomits from shock and can't move
-Officer Browne then proceeds to kill him
-Officer Browne promoted to Captain

Why the hell would anyone need to be shot after they are laying on the ground, puking, after being tazered?


last time i checked tazers were used INSTEAD of lethal force in the event the suspect is completely innocent/

it sounds like they didn't have proper training with a taser. They knew to tase him first rather than outright shoot him, which I'd guess is correct...but then had no idea of what effects a taser had, and understood his reactions as being uncooperative. Still hardly a reason to shoot him, let alone 3 times.

Thats a problem with tasers...everyone reacts differently. But everyone has this fucking hollywood image that if you get tased, you go to the ground, then as soon as its done, you immediately get back up and are perfectly fine. Not the case...otherwise it wouldn't be a tool of restraint.

to be fair, police promotions usually take years to occur. I doubt he did this, then was promoted 2 weeks later. He probably took the test 2 years before this even happened. But still, most police forces would hold off on a promotion if you fucking shoot someone, let alone someone who did nothing to warrant it.

like i said, a cop who clearly did things by the book with absolutely not a single thought put towards common sense, when even the slightest bit would have avoided this.

I wasn't meaning to generalize, asshat. No shit there a lot of cops that are good people that don't pull shocking crap like this. Unfortunately, there are cops like the one in OP's article that do this kind of stuff. The guy was just trying to collect things for toys for tots. Unforunately the cop saw him as a threat just because he was a part of a motorcycle club.

Look what happened with the oscar grant shooting. He was found guilty of the minimal charge, like less than the minimal should have even been.

I just want to say first, this is indecent is a terrible occurrence. I do not condone or support the actions the police took. I just want to contribute as factually as I can.

This man was a member of the outlaw Pagans Motorcycle Club. They are a serious and violent 1%er club. They deal drugs, weapons, stolen goods, hijack trucks, kidnap, extort and murder. Otherwise they wouldn't be a notorious outlaw club. They are similar to the Hell's Angels but less infamous. These guys stand up to any authority. They will refuse to back down and act offensively just to prove they are not part of normal society. Police entering their territory are not safe for the police nor anyone else in it.

Furthermore, these organizations were often established by veterans and often recruit them so it's not surprising he was one. Being a current or former soldier does not exonerate the responsibilities a person has of being an ethical person. Yes he may have been doing some charity work, which is not too uncommon for criminal organizations because they like to keep the locals on their side. This is the same as Al Capone running a soup kitchen. People do not join gangs or illegal organizations to do charity work.

What happened was wrong and he did not deserve it. It was a clear act of police brutality. I just wanted to illustrate the seriousness of the situation.
Edit: Again, I am not supporting what the police did. They obviously should not have used lethal force on a man on the ground and should be held accountable. These situations get out of hand and it was exacerbated by the mentality of the victim and his weapons. The victim still had the right not to be executed.

I think its much harder to get the most desirable recruits when you operate nationally. Look at the national security organizations in the US..

TSA-borderline retarded employees

compared with state police forces, which are obviously smaller, and usually have much higher standards

Just a little story cause I feel like it- Last night I was with my buddies driving around town when I decide to stop to take a piss, so i piss and then hear cops sirenes. I go back in the car and 2 seconds later, see a car zooming in front of us, and then cops following, going pretty fast compared to the speed limit. I follow them and when I come at a light, see that an accident had occured. by this pooint, the cops are too far so I decide to check out what happened at the accident. A guy was helping a girl who was in her car, and the girl was yelling/crying (though in french)'' I crashed in a cop because he cut me and uhhh, my back hurts. waptidouwap tiditaptaptada. pompom

As with the post above, I want to preface with saying that I don't condone police brutality, or an officer getting away with a deliberate crime.

But, the media has to stop giving one side of the story every single time a police brutality issue comes up. I'm sick and tired of people saying fuck the police and shit, yeah there are some really big prick cops that you meet once in awhile, but NOBODY ENJOYS shooting somebody unjustly. It'd be ignorant to think that this cop was on some sort of power-crazed shooting spree (as the majority of this thread is pointing to). Even though the late was unarmed, the officer most likely thought that his life was at risk and acted as what he saw accordingly. The media always spins these things to make it look like the cop committed some premeditated attack, but never really shows the police's side.

This "decorated marine" was a decorated crack dealer with a rep for carrying around his firearm. he was not unarmed, he had a knife in his pocket. His wife was in a divorce lawyers office while he was resisting arrest. The witnesses that testified all said he acted like he had a gun and refused to take his hands out of his pockets. In his pockets he had a knife and a can of pepper spray. When officer Browne shot him it was because the taser charge malfunctioned and Hale started to turn threateningly towards the officers.
