Look PX15 problem.

So i just got my skis back from getting mounted at the shop. Once i got them home i put my boots on and clicked in just to see what they felt like. I realized that the heelpiece is extremely loose, so loose that i can push down on it with my hand and release myself from the bindings with my own strength. I also have a pair of PX12s that do not have this problem. Click for larger image

this is the piece that i can push on while clipped in and when i push on it i release is this a problem?

hold on are you asking when you push on the tower piece of you binding that it releases you? how else do you expect to be able to get out of you binding then?? I really hope i'm misunderstanding the question or else i say "nominated"

that is what im saying. but its extremely easy and requires almost no strength

thats a good question. i assumed the shop would take care of that. my din is set at 8 which is correct. but i dont know about the forward toe pressure. would that cause this problem?

the forward pressure shouldn't really cause the tower to be easy or hard to engage/disengage... is the heel indicator actually at 8? does this happen to both heel pieces equally?

the heel heel indicator on one of the heelpieces is actually at 8 but its not even visible on the other. And no it does not happen equally it is much worse on the one where the heel indicator is not visible

take them back to your shop have (with your boots) and have them adjust them. explain to them how you clicked in etc, etc. Something doesn't sound right, they should fix that before you go ski.

foreword pressure as well as the din combine to cause the release point for the binding,

Too much forward pressure will make the binding either release easily or not release at all, depending on the design.A dual-pivot binding, like Look or Tyrolia (and maybe Marker and Atomic, though I'm not as familiar) will release less easily or not at all, because the forward pressure will keep the boot from rotating. Once the boot rotates outside the pivot, it will release quickly, as in the first case above. So i baisclally depends on how the OP is trying to relase the boot. I could have understood the question wrong though.

im just pushing down on the tower to release the boot. but actually of i discovered it was when i was leaning slightly forward then all of the sudden i released from one of the bindings

Yea if thats the case then take them back to the shop, from the sounds of it was set properly. (if at all)

when your boot is in the binding, yes forward pressure matters. but when your boot is not in the binding, it does not effect how easy or how hard it is to engage/disengage the heel. this is what I was getting at.

I had a pair of PX12s that did exactly the same thing. The DIN on the heel piece was wound down past the lowest setting, (i.e. indicator wasn't visible in the window) it made the spring extremely loose and therefore became incredibly easy to release in a conventional sense (i.e. pressing down on the heel piece). It is worth mentioning that the binding had managed to work it's own DIN setting into such a position from an original setting of around 9 or so. Check your settings every once in a while, it took mine falling off my foot whilst on a chair for me to notice...

No worries man. You should follow the advice of the earlier posts in this thread too, i.e. take them back to the shop that you got them mounted at so they can check the forward pressure is correct. Don't take any chances with bindings

Not just forward pressure, but release value as well. Shops should always check the bindings with their special torque-o-meter to make sure they are releasing at an actual 8. I had a pair of PX15s and one of the toes needed the din a full 1.5 higher due to a soft spring. Right out of the box, not after abuse.

And yes, torque-o-meter is a word of my own invention.
